Description: Scout was a much loved family member for many years. He was rescued and has lived happly in a home with an animal rescuer and due to no fault of his own is now looking for another home. He loves attention, walks, other dogs of all sizes and ages. He is a friend to all and a faux to none. He is housebroken and does not need to be crated. Although he is a senior guys he is VERY strong and need someone willing to excerise him often. He loves attention and will lick anyone he can. He was raise in a home with kids whom are now teens but due to his size and energy we do not recommend small children. Although he has never injured a cat he does get pretty excited around them and will chase them. I can't say he is bad with cats but most likely he should not live with a cat due to his energy level and size. He would make a great walking partner and lap hog!
The Terrier is a good-natured, amusing, extremely loyal and affectionate family pet, which is good with children and adults. Almost always obedient, it is always eager to please its master. It is an extremely courageous and intelligent guard dog that is very full of vitality. They are highly protective of their owners and the owner's property. It is usually very friendly, but has an uncanny ability to know when it needs to protect and when everything is okay. Excellent with children in the family, they have a high pain tolerance and will happily put up with rough child play. As with any breed, they should not be left alone with unfamiliar children. Used as all around working farm dogs, they were referred to as "the poor mans horse". They are strong and generally weigh between 40 and 70 lbs. They have a life expectancy of about 12 - 14 years.
