Taylor has been chosen by a local DNA testing company to be a sample case for the Seminole Chamber of Commerce . The company took her DNA swab on March 6 and the results will be in on March 27 at the SWOOP meeting where they will be announced.  She will not be available to go home with you until then since she i will be the honored guest that day as we reveal her breed. BUT if interested, please fill out the application and we will give you an update!

Taylor was rescued long with 22 other dogs from a hoarding/neglect situation in Tennessee . This sweet outgoing dog loves to play with other dogs and has a happy outgoing personality. Taylor is currently being treated for  Demodex and if adopted will go home with oral meds if still neccessary in late March...Hopefully not as she is definitely on the mend and ready for her forever home after the big announcement!

Here is what Taylor Swift's foster mom has to say about her:

Appearance -- Small, brown with black markings on her hips and the tip of her tail. Each of her back feet has one pink toenail. Sometimes, her left ear sticks up for no apparent reason. Can you get more cute than this?

Energy Level -- Moderate to high energy, but she does a great job of entertaining herself by chewing on soup bones from the butcher and loves to chew on and throw her squeaky toys around. What's better than a dog who plays fetch by themselves?

Food -- Taylor is eating a half cup of Paul Newman's dry food every morning and evening with a teaspoon of yogurt on top. She gets homemade liver treats when she does her business outside and a natural chicken breast rawhide for a snack in the afternoon.

• Adaptability -- Taylor is a very confident pup and adapts well to all situations.

Behaviors-- Taylor is a very smart dog and knows NO, SIT, and STAY. She responds immediately to her name and knows the command THIS WAY when changing direction during walks. Since she is still a puppy, she is curious about everything and needs to be watched as she wants to put everything in her mouth. Since she came from a hoarding situation, she gets very excited to see anyone and wants to say 'Hi' by jumping up, so we're working on GET DOWN. She responds well to this command at home, but needs more practice with this when in public. She is getting better and we work on this every morning at the dog park. As of right now, if I tell her to get down in public, she listens to me, but won't when her target audience tells her this. Taylor is very good on walks and doesn't even stop to go to the bathroom. She will need a fenced in backyard because she doesn't like to do her business when on the leash. She needs her privacy. She will need to be watched when in the yard or anywhere she's off the leash because she has tried to dig under the fence at the dog park.

Human Social Skills-- Taylor wants to be friends with everyone and every dog she comes into contact with.

Animal Social Skills-- She loves being with other dogs and plays very well with them. She loves to be chased and can totally hang with the big dogs. I'm not sure how she would do with cats, but she wants to chase my rabbits and the squirrels she sees at the dog park.

Obedience-- SIT, STAY, NO, and THIS WAY and we're working on GET DOWN.

Training -- Taylor is crate trained and is currently sleeping in it at night in my bedroom. She has had a few accidents in the house, but she's getting better with this.

Personality Quirks-- Taylor is very smart and would do great with agility training. It's so funny to watch her get the dogs chasing her at the dog park and if she's getting tired, she jumps up on one of the chairs as if to say, "Ha, ha! You can't get me now!" After she's caught her breath, she immediately goes back to teasing the other dogs and getting them to play again.

Ideal Home-- Taylor would do very well with an active family. She NEEDS a home with a fenced in yard with a family who won't leave her in the yard alone and unattended. She would do beautifully in a home with other dogs and I'm sure she'd love it if they were three times her size so she could boss them around! :)

Won't you welcome this sweet and loving girl into your family where she'll never be neglected again?

According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, one of the older breeds, the Pug is believed to have originated before 400 BC in Asia. There is somewhat of a debate over the origin of the Pug. Some experts think it came from the Lowlands, brought back from the Far East by Dutch traders. It is possibly of Oriental stock, descended from a short-haired Pekingese, but another theory is, it is the result of crossing a small Bulldog. Yet another school of thought is that it is a miniature form of the rare French Mastiff called Dogue de Bordeaux. Pugs were a favorite of the artist Hogarth, who included his pet Pug "Trump" in several of his works. From the sixteenth century, it became a fashionable adornment of the European Courts, reaching its peak of popularity in Victorian times. He was a pet at Tibetan monasteries and later traveled to Japan. The Pug then came to Europe, where the endearing little dog was the pet of royalty in several countries and even became the official dog of the House of Orange in Holland. A Pug saved William, Prince of Orange's life by alerting him to the approaching Spaniards in 1572 at Hermingny. Napoleon's wife, Josephine, sent secret messages to her husband under the collar of her Pug while she was in prison. When the British overran the Chinese Imperial Palace in 1860, they discovered several Pugs and Pekinese, and brought the little dogs back to England with them. A Pug is "a lot of dog in a small space." They are perky, rambunctious and loyal, affectionate and loving, with a happy disposition. They are playful and charming. Clever and mischievous - with a heart-winning personality. They can be a bit willful. Highly intelligent, it bores easily with repetitive training practices. Pugs are sensitive to the tone of your voice, so harsh punishment is unnecessary. The dog is neither excitable nor dull. They are good watchdogs, very devoted and are not yappers. Pugs get along well with other dogs and pets, and they behave impeccably with both children and visitors. Do not forget though, that they require lots of attention and become jealous if their owner ignores them. They have an life expectancy of 12-15 years. A supporter of Pet Rescue By Judy e-mailed us this little Pug tidbit: " I learned additional knowlege about Pugs after a trip to my husband's homeland of Russia. I found that one of the greatest rulers of all time, Catherine the Great, had Pugs. In addition, she constructed a fountain in the royal home of St. Petersberg, home of Peter the Great, where a Pug travelled through a fountain catching ducks. I sat next to the fountain and had my picture taken."
