Description:

Georgia was surrendered after one of her owners fell ill.  She is a stunning, young English Setter. Common with her breed, her hair is long and will need to be well maintained to keep her hair free of matting. She's a sweet girl who loves love. Won't you bring Georiga home?

  • Leash Manners - She walks OK on a leash and does not pull hard but does try to take the lead. I am working on her to do even better.
  • Crate/House Training - She is crate trained but is fine in the house and has had no accidents and welcomes going outside and come back in when called. She will enter her crate if I just point and snap my fingers. She does complain if left alone in there when I am home. She slept all night and only cried for a few minutes when first placed in the crate. Was not disturbed and she had no accidents.
  • Socialization - She is an outstanding dog with any one. She loves to play with my Min Pin and try to get Lucky to chase her. They play fight but is not too rough and has not hurt or bitten the dog. I have not seen her show any acts of aggression at any time.
  • Energy Level and Exercise - She loves to run in my fenced back yard and play catch me if you can with my own dog.
  • Daily Structure and Schedule - She nibbles on dry food throughout the day and has not been over eating.
  • Temperament - Very affectionate and submissive.
  • Obedience Training - She knows Come Here, Sit, Down and Heel but still needs reinforcement with all commands.
  • Behaviors - She used to jump up on me but I think I have that issue solved already for the most part. I have not seen her digging or chewing or doing any thing destructive.
  • Personality Quirks -
  • Ideal Home - Georgia would do well in any home, This is still a puppy so I would be a bit careful with very small animals that may be hurt during play that could be too rough for them. She is doing OK with my 15 pound dog but does slap at her to get her to play. She slaps harder than she realizes, but it is only in play. Not one bit aggressive. Not even concerned if my dog goes in her crate and takes a sample of her food.

A graceful, elegant gundog, the English Setter today excels in the show, obedience and agility rings as well as in the field.  Although similar in function to the Irish and Gordon Setters, the English is a distinct breed, differing personality and appearance. Their beautiful feathered coat is white with an intermingling of darker hairs resulting in markings called "belton." Belton markings can be orange, blue (white with black markings), tricolor (blue belton with tan points), lemon and liver.
