This is Haas, a 7 year old blue Great Dane that lost his home and human due to an illness that befell his master. He is very quiet, only wants to please, is housebroken and loves to cuddle. He is very well behaved, knows sit, down and "get off the bed" LOL. He does love to curl up on the foot of the bed but if told to be a "floor dog" he will go curl up on his own bed. Haas is of course neutered, UTD and very healthy. He came to us fairly skinny but is now up to a good weight and is beautiful. I would like for Haas to go to an older couple that is home a lot. He so deserves a home that will love him and spend time spoiling him. Haas gets along with most females but he seems to have a problem with one of our males. I would recommend either "only dog home" or with spayed females. He gets along with our two female Dane with no problems.

Haas is a large boy. He could easily go 145, 150. He loves to eat. Loves his bed and loves to nudge until you are forced to put your arm around him and give him a big hug. Haas will need to go to a home in the Orlando area as a home visit will be conducted. Haas is an INSIDE DOG. He did escape under our fence one time but did not run off. This does concern me, however, and would suggest anyone adopting Haas keep a close eye on him for the first few months. A FENCED YARD IS MANDATORY. Haas walks VERY well on leash. He ambers along, doesn't pull and just seems to enjoy being with his person. He is heart worm neg. and is on preventative.

The Great Dane is known as the "Apollo of all dogs." In 407 A.D. German Gaul and part of Italy and Spain were invaded by an Asiatic people (the Alans) who brought with them powerful mastiff-like dogs. In Germany especially, where these magnificent animals capable of overcoming bears and wild boars were much admired, a process of selective breeding was begun. Dignified, kind, sweet and affectionate, it is playful and patient with children. It loves everyone and needs to be around people. The Great Dane does not bark much and only becomes aggressive when the circumstances require it. A steady dog, responsible and dependable. Brave and loyal, it is a good watchdog. They need plenty of exercise - at least a good walk a day. The expected life-span is about 10 years, although some live 12-13.
