Description:
Ace's owners are no longer able to take care of him so they are looking for a home for him.  They describe Ace as a friendly and sweet blonde Lab.  He is a mellow and quiet dog but will bark to alert you if someone is at the door.

Medical Info:  Ace does have an allergy to something that we're unsure of, but he is constantly licking his paws.  The vet usually gives him a cortisone shot around June.  We work long hours and sometimes he will have potty mistakes but it's really not his fault because he's alone for long period of time. Like most dogs he does shed and will get hot spots on his tail when anxious.
  • Leash Manners - Walks well on leash with a traditional leash.  He likes to stay near his home and has never been a runaway.
  • Crate/House Training - He is crate trained and house trained.
  • Socialization - Ace is good with people of all ages/genders/races.  He is great around children cats and larger breed dogs.  He seems to dislike puppies and small dogs.
  • Energy Level and Exercise - Ace has a mild temperament and not too active.  He has a low to medium energy level.  He usually gets outside time but prefers to be inside. He walks once around the block and then gets tired.
  • Daily Structure and Schedule - He has outside time in morning and afternoon and eats twice a day about 2 cups of dry Iams dog food.
  • Confidence Level - Ace is submissive and can be nervous around new surroundings.  His back legs will shake and tail will go in between his feet. He's so shy but happy at the same time. He can be scared and nippy with strangers if approached quickly but warms up quickly
  • Obedience Training - Ace knows Sit, Crate and Potty.  He is very well behaved and will NOT touch your shoes or countersurf for stuff on tables.  He also will not jump up on people when meeting them, he just wants to be pet by everyone who comes in the house.
  • Personality Quirks - Ace doesn't like tile floors because it's slippery but he is starting to get used to it.  He likes to lick your feet!  He is quiet, sweet, really shy, and happy to see people.
  • Ideal Home - The best home for Ace is an active family that has time to play with him and walk him.
*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
