Teenie Marie the Tiny Chihuahua/Terrier must be adopted with her companion, Little Richie the Chihuahua (adopted).
Description: Teenie Marie was surrendered to our organization with her "boyfriend" Little Richie because her owners were not able to care for her and were neglectful. This sweet Chihuahua/Wirehair Terrier blend has lived in a home with up to 7 dogs her whole life and is looking forward to being spoiled and loved. Teenie Marie would love to be adopted along with Little Richie as they have grown up together and are very attached to one another. Just like the pop stars they are named after, they are in love.
Leash Manners – She walks well on the leash but can pull at times. She is wearing a regular collar.
Crate/House Training – We are trying to crate train her. She doesn’t mind going in the crate as long as Little Richie is with her. We also feed them both in the crate.
Socialization – Well socialized with people but does not like cats.
Energy Level and Exercise – Teenie Marie has a high energy level. I walk her twice a day and she play with my little dog inside.
Daily Structure and Schedule – A walk in the morning, then breakfast. She goes in the crate around 8:45am, then taken out around noon. She goes back in the crate until 5pm then tout on another walk and play until 11pm.
Confidence Level – Teenie Marie is an Alpha Dog.
Obedience Training – I don’t think Tennie Marie knows any commands, but we are working on them.
Behaviors – I don’t think Tennie is 100% potty trained and she doesn’t know her name. She does not come when she is called and will take off if the opportunity presents its self. She is a work in progess!
Personality Quirks – The sweetest dog and loves her boyfriend Richie! They both love to cuddle!
Ideal Home – A home where can receive the love and training she needs!
According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Chihuahua is the oldest breed on the American continent and the smallest breed in the world. Native to Mexico, nonetheless it seems to have been introduced by the Chinese. It was only brought to Europe at the end of the nineteenth century. The Chihuahua is named after the Mexican state of Chihuahua where he was brought to the rest of the world by travelers. This breed is believed to have been sacred to the Pre-Columbian Indian nations. The Chihuahua is a popular, economical companion dog. Courageous, extremely lively, proud and enterprising, it gives and demands affection. Bold and saucy, it moves swiftly to avoid being stepped on. Chihuahua's are strong-willed, intensely loyal and become very attached to their owners, even to the point of jealousy. They like to lick their owner's faces. It is undeniably suspicious of people except for its owner. When strangers are present, it follows its owner's every move, keeping as close as possible. This breed may snap at teasing children, after all it is too tiny to get away. The Chihuahua must resort to his sharp teeth in self defense. It is not recommended for children. He can be noisy and may require patience to housebreak. Many owners simply paper train this breed. The Chihuahua hates the cold and may shiver, although this may be due to high metabolism as much as temperature or anxiety. It will tolerate and even appreciate a warm sweater on cooler days. They are good little dogs for apartment life. Although it is tempting to carry these dainty creatures about, they will keep fitter if taken for walks. A body harness is safer than a collar. Don't think that just because he is small he should be confined to a small space. Chihuahuas have a life expectancy of 15 or more years.
