Description: Gia was found abandoned in our parking lot on the day after Christmas. This sweet little pit mix puppy is looking for a great home that will love and cherish her forever.
Leash Manners - She loves to go for a walk. She also loves to go for runs! We are still working with her walking manners but she is not a big puller she mostly just needs to work on not walking zigzags.
Crate/House Training - She is crate trained and does well sleeping in her crate at night except she will wake up once usually between 2 and 4 AM to go outside and potty. She is pretty much house trained and will go to the door and whine when she has to go out. She will use her puppy pad during the day in her crate at times but is learning how to hold it.
Socialization - Good with my 65 lb shepard mix and my cat but is probably a little too playful for older or small dogs. She does great with other dogs with her same energy level who love to play hard! She played with a 4 year old and showed no signs of agression. She loves everyone!
Energy Level and Exercise - She is outgrowing the puppy sleepy stage and she is getting more energy to play and interact with her surroundings. She loves her chew toys and is getting much better on longer walks and is still taking great naps through out the day.
Daily Structure and Schedule - She eats 4 times throughout the day because she will over eat if it is not portioned out for her. Right now she is on a grain free dry food with soft food mixed in just because that is what my dog is on.
Confidence Level - So far Gia has recognized my dog's position as the alpha dog and has been ok with that. She seems comfortable with new people and situations. Loud dog barking scares her.
Obedience Training - She knows Sit and No! We are working on not jumping up on people. She is very food motivated so training should be pretty easy.
Behaviors - We are working on chewing as long as she is porvided with appropriate chew toys she does ok but if you leave a shoe in her sight she thinks it is fair game
Personality Quirks - She is a really cuddler she loves to lay with her person.
Ideal Home - So far we havent seen anything that would indicate she wouldnt do well in any situation. A home with a playful dog would be great as she loves to have her canine companion!
The Terrier is a good-natured, amusing, extremely loyal and affectionate family pet, which is good with children and adults. Almost always obedient, it is always eager to please its master. It is an extremely courageous and intelligent guard dog that is very full of vitality. They are highly protective of their owners and the owner's property. It is usually very friendly, but has an uncanny ability to know when it needs to protect and when everything is okay. Excellent with children in the family, they have a high pain tolerance and will happily put up with rough child play. As with any breed, they should not be left alone with unfamiliar children. Used as all around working farm dogs, they were referred to as "the poor mans horse". They are strong and generally weigh between 40 and 70 lbs. They have a life expectancy of about 12 - 14 years.
