This is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever done. I never could have imagined rehoming any one of my beloved pets. However, we truly feel it would be in Oliver's best interest to find him a new, loving home where he is the only cat or lives with one other feline friend who would let him be the Alpha. We've tried to work with Oliver for 4 years since we saved him from a run down area of Apopka but he's never gotten comfortable living in our home with several other cats. Poor Oliver is miserable being forced to live with a clan and he's even more so since our son, Noah, was born. This magnificently beautiful creature hides on top of the refrigerator every day in order to stay as far away as possible from our other cats and crazy toddler. He has become increasingly aggressive towards his brothers, almost as though he feels he must defend himself and his territory.
Oliver is one of the most tenderly affectionate animals I've ever met. He absolutely loves to curl up in our laps during dinner or at bedtime for a cuddle session. If Oliver is able to get into our bed before the other guys, he'll smush himself into my side and totally pass out in my arms until morning comes. This darling boy can often be found taking naps with my son and partaking in story time at night. Unfortunately, all of these gentle moments vanish as soon as any other cat enters the room. If there wasn't anyone to steal his thunder, Oliver would be the most darling pet!
Oliver has some silly idiosyncrasies that truly make him unique. First off, he lays in the most ridiculous positions, as you can see in his photos. I always walk into the room and find him with his legs up in the air and his head hanging off the sofa. Secondly, if my husband or I are standing near an elevated surface like a couch or counter, he'll jump onto the furniture and wave his paws in the air to signal us over so he can climb on our back. He'll roll around (as best he can) on our shoulders or try to bat at the pulls on the ceiling fans. When Oliver is tired or enters his hypnotic state while he's cuddling with one of us, he gets super cross eyed and drools like a baby! He has such a sweet innocence about him and you can do nothing but love him unconditionally. That is why I have so much guilt about doing this. But as I previously stated, it would be the best thing for Oliver's happiness. We simply want to find him a family who will adore him as much as we do.
Please take a look at his pictures below to see what a loving boy he is. He will be so happy in the right home.
