About Doc the Blue Terrier | |
Doc and his companion Jessie were left behind in a local condo by his previous oweners. One of our devoted volunteers went to his rescue.
Doc is a beautiful blue nose terrier around a year old. After being neglected by their previous owners, Doc and Jessie came into our home so we could give them some much needed TLC. After two weeks with Doc, we have learned the following:Foster Update: Doc has been such a fantastic addition to our foster family. We couldn't help but fall in love with him! In fact, everyone who meets Doc falls in love with him. He has a beautiful soul and we are so grateful to have him in our lives. Whoever adopts him will be very lucky to have found such an amazing animal. He is so well behaved - we have started leaving him outside out his crate when we are home and he has NEVER had an accident. His favorite thing to do is chew his bones. He always makes me smile because he actually grins when we give him a bone. He is not food or toy aggressive with people. We are constantly testing him to find his flaws and well... there aren't many! He is really a good boy. We have been working on leash training - he responds very well to corrections. The only problem we have had is his socialization with dominant dogs. He LOVES to play with submissive dogs but when another dog tests him, he isn't very happy. Overall, we are so impressed with Doc and can't wait to find him a forever home!
The Terrier is a good-natured, amusing, extremely loyal and affectionate family pet, which is good with children and adults. Almost always obedient, it is always eager to please its master. It is an extremely courageous and intelligent guard dog that is very full of vitality. They are highly protective of their owners and the owner's property. It is usually very friendly, but has an uncanny ability to know when it needs to protect and when everything is okay. Excellent with children in the family, they have a high pain tolerance and will happily put up with rough child play. As with any breed, they should not be left alone with unfamiliar children. Used as all around working farm dogs, they were referred to as "the poor mans horse". They are strong and generally weigh between 40 and 70 lbs. They have a life expectancy of about 12 - 14 years.
