Addy is a sweet girl who loves people and attention! She does have separation anxiety and will need a home where people are around most of the time and are willing to work with her on increasing the amount of time they can leave her. She is a big puppy at heart and still has a lot of energy for her 7 years. She is a strong girl and needs an owner up for her sweet, but large size.
In December of 2018, Marisol kna Addison Belle (Addy) was surrendered back to Pet Rescue by Judy. Her owner wrote up a little bio on her:
Addy (Full name, Addison Belle) is a tan and black Boxer/Lab mix. Originally, Marisol and her littermates were found in a box in a shopping cart in the WalMart Parking lot. Almost 7 years old now, (birthday is May 2, 2012) Addy is a very friendly and social dog who loves people, children and other dogs. As an older dog, their young children would play rough with her and she attempted to snap at them. She was raised in a family around babies and toddlers and was very gentle with them, but do not recommend young children. She loves to swim, go on walks and play tug of war with a rope or dog toy. She is completely housetrained and knows how to sit, shake, stay, spin, lay down, and roll over. Her favorite thing is just to be around people and she especially loves to cuddle. She gets along well with most other dogs and loves doggie play dates. She is a very sweet, playful and loving dog!
3/12/19 update: Addy so deserves her furever home. She is such a good girl and loves to be around people. She is fascinated with other dogs and loves to play with her squeaky toys. She loves to be outside and can run *very* fast. Most of all, Addy just wants to be near somebody. She is an awesome dog!
3/3/19 update: Check out the video of Addy swimming!
FOSTER UPDATE 2/25/19: We have lots of people in and out of the house and Addy does very well with them. She is friendly with everybody (does need more work to not jump up). We took in a new foster yesterday, who is about 10 months old and 10 pounds, and they have had so much fun together. She is careful with Lilly while playing, but they chase each other and just like to be together. We also discovered she likes tennis balls and that she is a strong swimmer. She is such a beautiful girl - she has a beautiful coat and is quite muscular! She can run quite fast and would love to catch a squirrel or a lizard. She can get whiny when anxious and definitely wants to be with people. She knows quite a few commands and is fully housetrained.
FOSTER UPDATE 2/10/19: We have been fostering Addy almost a week now. She loves being with her people and does seem to have some separation anxiety. She would do best with people who are home most of the time. She can be a bit skittish of certain things, but just needs some reassuring. She does fine on her own at night as she is in the living room -not the bedroom- and does not fuss, she is a good sleeper. All of the other dogs in our house are small and she was afraid of a couple of them at first when they weren't too thrilled about her big head in their face. Within 2 days, they all do fine together. The only disagreement the dogs have had was over a squeaky toy- and was mainly the other dog being upset and not wanting to share. Addy also likes to chew on marrow bones. I am surprised how gentle she is with her mouth as she has not tried to destroy the squeaky toy! She loves riding in the car, has been to the park, and is careful with my Dad in his wheelchair. She is a really great dog and I am surprised she has not been adopted.
FOSTER UPDATE 01/24/2019:
Addy has been with me for a month now. I have started taking her to the dog park to see how she interacts with other dogs, and she loves the whole experience. She runs to greet each new dog tail wagging quickly and appreciates a good game of chase (she often
works to get into the lead position). As she requires some activity, she does enjoy a good walk each day. She sees many dogs and even cats. I would guess she would be fine with a cat in the home based on her reaction to them on the street. When meeting dogs, she enjoys nose to nose,
followed by the usual complete dog sniff. Recently at an event for Judy, she did meet another dog on the leash and seemed a little overwhelmed and did snap to let the other dog know she did not want an interaction. I believe the busy environment contributed to her reaction. Addy would also be fine in an only dog home. She loves visitors and after greeting friends and family, will lay on her bed. I will also note, she has absolutely no food aggression and waits to be
instructed before proceeding to her dish and walks very well on the leash. Please see my foster note of earlier this month for further insight into this special girl.
FOSTER UPDATE 1/05/2019:
Addy has been with me for a little over a week. She is a very sweet dog and loves to cuddle. She does require exercise; I walk her twice a day (usually going around the block). She has some anxiety and will cry but can be easily calmed. I do think she needs a yard as she loves to be in the yard, even by herself. A 7 month-old baby visited today and was interested and polite. I do believe she would be better with older children.
She loves to sleep with my daughter when she visits. I do think she will do best with someone who is home more rather than less.
She does have some separation anxiety. She did fine with the fireworks for the New Year, but definitely wanted to be close to a warm body. She is very loving and wants to be loved very much. If interested in meeting this very special girl, please put in an application on her and we can set up a meet.
