Description:
Brinn is a sweet, sweet girl who came from another shelter where her time was up. The shelter manager kept extending her time there and begged rescues to take her because she saw how special she is. Luckily, Judy took her in! Brinn is young and playful and very cuddly. She loves to give kisses and adores receiving affection. She is a nice size, not too big, but needs to gain a little weight. She is a good watch dog and will let you know when someone is outside, but quiets down when you tell her to. She would do great in a household where there are several people to give her attention because she likes a lot of it! Brinn is white with black spots, the coloring of an American Bulldog, but smaller like a Terrier mix. She is very strong, however, and does pull a little on the leash but is getting better about that. She does get scared during thunderstorms and at the sound of fireworks, so she would probably benefit from a ThunderShirt during those times. She is a very happy-go-lucky girl and will bring plenty of smiles to the faces of her new family!
Foster Update: I recently went out of town and my mom watched Brinn for me. When I got back, she raved about her and said, "Someone is going to get a great little dog!" Brinn wasn't interested in her cat at all, and got along great with the other dogs there. She was a little nervous being in a new place, but quickly shook that off.
Foster Update: We took Brinn to Gay Days and wow was she a hit! She won everyone over with her sweet kisses and the way she rolls over for belly rubs. I don't think she has a mean bone in her body. I also took her to Fleet Peeples dog park and she had a blast! She ran around and played with the other dogs and splashed in the lake. She gets along great with other dogs, large and small, and loves being petted by everyone. You have to meet this sweetie in person to appreciate what a doll she is - pictures just don't do her justice!
Like many dogs in the South, Brinn is heartworm positive, but don't let that stop you from adopting a great dog. We are treating him with monthly heartworm preventative, our preferred method. Many heartworm positive dogs go on to lead long and healthy lives. PRBJ treats ALL of our dogs with monthly Heartworm preventative. Heartworms are transmitted to dogs via mosquitoes. Humans do not contract heartworms. Heartworm positive (HW+ ) dogs are treated with the recommended slow kill method, using monthly HW preventative as it is gentler on the animal’s system than the more invasive injection method. Most dogs that are Heartworm positive can lead healthy, normal lives if the worms are caught early and treatment began. There are different options to treat HW and new owners may choose to redirect their type of treatment with direction of their vet. All HW+ dogs have a HW slow treatment info sheet in their adoption folder which will be provided to new owners.
