Description:
Spotchi is a special cat. I love her markings ~ she looks like she was splattered with paint. So unique! Spotchi is a perfect example of why I value our fosters so very much. We rescued this pumpkin from a feral colony. When I created her webpage, I addressed her standoffishness, her fear, her timidity,...... Nine months later (yup, you read that right, NINE months later) I figured it was time to update her webpage and contacted the gentleman who has been fostering her for several months. I want you to read what Chris wrote. There is so much truth in this, not just about Spotchi, but about rescued pets and those who love them:

"Spotchie is like many many other cats in that she is not a lap cat and maybe never will be (4 of my 6 cats will not even let me pick them up. And one of them I can't ever even touch but every now and then and then only with a brush. And I love her, Leah, just as much as all my other cats). But Spotchie is really lovable once you gain her trust. And because she was rescued from the wild it may take a little patience from you to gain her trust ~ can't that be said about every cat?). But you will. And when you do you will find she loves her head, cheeks and back rubbed. And rubbed. And rubbed. Hold your hand above her head and she'll stand on her back paws and stretch up to meet it. When you feed her you'll find that she won't eat until you rub her head a little. She'll stand in front of her food and wait for you to reach down and love on her and tell her it's ok, I love you, go ahead and eat your supper now. Then and only then will she begin to eat. Ya see, she's just as precious as any other kitty cat but her website doesn't let you know that. If anything, I think it pushes potential adopters away.

A letter in 'Cat Fancy' magazine says it best I think. The reader is responding to an article in which a writer is talking about how a shelter cats disposition greatly determines if and when it might be adopted. While this is true the letter writer makes a very good point when he writes 'Regarding your article, "Disposition", there are millions of beautiful, sweet cats sitting in shelters longing for loving homes. Why keep breeding just so you can have a sweet, pretty cat? I would much rather go save a life than purchase a cat. Yes it is nice having a cat that I can pick up and have sit on my lap or sleep on my pillow. But it is also nice having a cat in my home that I can't pick up or does not want to sit on my lap or sleep on my pillow because she is safe and has a loving home.' I couldn't have said it better. "

Don't you love this? Don't you want to love Spotchi? She deserves a loving home and she deserves it sooner rather than later!
