Description:

Whippy and Happy are two cute sibling Lab puppies. They came to us from a high kill shelter.  Happy's name comes from the fact that she has such an energetic and happy personality!  Happy would do best in a home with a fenced yard she can run around in, as well as a lot of human and doggy social interaction.  Here is more of what we know about Happy's sweet personality:

  • Definitely a people person and a big lover!
  • Loves to be a lap dog and cuddle with you
  • Friendly to all strangers and new people she meets
  • Acts exceptionally well with children of all ages, very tolerant of toddler behavior
  • Well socialized with dogs of all sizes as well as with cats, including kittens
  • Loves to go to the dog park or swimming in the lake
  • Has basic training and knows to Sit and Wait for her food until she is given a command to eat
  • Walks very well on leash and does not pull
  • Sits before and after she enters the front door and waits patiently for her leash to be removed
  • Does get excited when first released from her kennel or greeting her favorite people but is improving when the excitement is ignored
  • 100% house trained and has no accidents in the house
  • Rides exceptionally well in the car and sits quietly in her seat
  • Can be nervous around people carrying large items (trash bag, box)

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
