Description:

My name is Hammy. I have been with PRBJ since 4/3/12.

Foster Update 8/16/12:
'Hammy the Handsome' with his white scarf, sharp golden eyes, four clean white socks and an all over shadowy coat is such a joy to have around. Kids and adults alike can enjoy giving him hugs and kisses and Hammy never protests--he just soaks all the love in! My kids scoop him up and carry him around several times without ever being scratched or nipped by him.

He is so easy going and care-free that he would make a wonderful addition to any family. He loves to eat and play! He has a taste for strings of yarn which he'll play with for hours but should never be left alone with for he has a tendency to chew and swallow the string. He is very 'talkative' in the mornings and evenings. Hammy is our second foster cat. Right now he is trying to humbly, patiently and politely share food and other necessities with our first foster cat. The two are like night and day! But our first foster cat is bent on fiercely guarding and defending what she considers to be her territory. If ever Hammy feels threatened by her he runs and hides.

It has been an ongoing, challenging process getting the two felines to coexist. It seems like our first foster cat's daily feverish "mine..mine..all mine!" proclamations are slowly dying down as she learns to share. But it will take some time before the two truly warm up to each other.

Hammy is good with other cats as long as they are just as laid back as he is and they are not aggressive or territorial!

Update - July 2012: Hammy is such a ham! No one can believe that he hasn't been adopted yet. He is such a clown. I swear he has a sense of humor! Hammy loves people and loves for people to love him. He is extremely affectionate, gets on great with other cats and is relaxed and confident but not territorial or aggressive. Hammy just goes with the flow and enjoys life. He would make a wonderful family pet, especially with children to play with him.

Hammy was rescued by one of our dedicated PRBJ supporters. He was abandoned in an apartment complex when his owners moved. His coat is a magificant mirage of black, gray, and white.

Hammy wants to be cuddled and played with. He loves someone to get a toy mouse, sit and just play with him. And he loves being scratched under his chin!
