Description:
This little man was rescued from the great outdoors. After painfully watching a neighbor disregard this feline to fend for itself out amongst the neighborhood, someone with a big heart took it upon themselves to provide the animal with the food, love and medical attention that it so very much deserved! Why get a pet if you really don't want one???

Gibson was covered with fleas - literally - upon our receipt of him. His skin under his dense and thining hair is one sore after another from the massive amount of flea bites from which he suffered over his days outdoors. Upon being vet'd it was not surprising to hear that his blood count was so very low; due we're sure to the feast the fleas had been having on his small and thinning body. Gibson has a long way to go before physically being ready for a new home HOWEVER his mind, his heart and those purrs of appreciation coming from so deep down within his soul let us know each and every day that he's on the flip side to life. The good life. A life in which to look forward to and enjoy; not just survive. Thank God for concerned citizens keeping their eyes and their hearts open to help those who often times cannot help themselves!

7/20/08 Volunteer Update: Gibson is such a handsome little man. He is so friendly and just wants to be pet and loved on. He kept giving me his paw so I said "Gibson, gimme a high 5" and HE DID!! I said it 3 more times and he kept doing it. How cute is that!??!!?

8/23/08 Foster Update:
Gibsion has been in my bathroom a week now and he is loving life out of a crate. He is very sweet and clean cat. As long as i keep the litter box clean so does he well besides, you know. His coat is very soft reminds me of one of the expencive teddy bears from toys R us or somewhere. a few days ago he got a bath. He was very easy to wash. I filled up the tub and just picked him up and in the water he went. As long as i did not splash water on his face he tollarted his wash time. Now he is super soft and smells good. The 1st day i brought him home i put him a bed and toys down on the floor. When i got home that night he had re-agganged everything. but it was still nice and neat. he loved being in my lap and getting brushed or just loved on and purrs up a storm. I dont think his pictures do him justice im going to try and get better ones on here. He has the cooliest ( i dont even think thats a word) fangs that are on the outside of his mouth. I love them. Gibison will do great in any family big or small that will give him the love he needs and deserves.

Are these statements true or false?

Cats always land on their feet.
Cats should drink milk everyday.
The correct answer to both is FALSE.

According to the Cat Fanciers' Association, www.cfa.org, these are common misunderstandings that veterinarians frequently hear from pet owners, according to the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Following is a list of popular myths that AAHA veterinarians and The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) would like to dispel.

Myth: Cats always land on their feet.
Fact: While cats instinctively fall feet first and may survive falls from high places, they also may receive broken bones in the process. Some kind of screening on balconies and windows can help protect pets from disastrous falls.

Myth: Cats should drink milk everyday.
Fact: Most cats like milk, but do not need it if properly nourished. Also, many will get diarrhea if they drink too much milk. If it is given at all, the amount should be small and infrequent.

Myth: Cats that are spayed or neutered automatically gain weight.
Fact: Like people, cats gain weight from eating too much, not exercising enough or both. In many cases, spaying or neutering is done at an age when the animal's metabolism already has slowed, and its need for food has decreased. If the cat continues to eat the same amount, it may gain weight. Cat owners can help their cats stay fit by providing exercise and not over-feeding.

Myth: Cats cannot get rabies.
Fact: Actually, most warm-blooded mammals, including cats, bats, skunks a
