Description:

Foster Update 4/15/12: Daphne has become the most amazing cat I've ever had the pleasure of caring for. If my males  weren't so mean to her, I'd keep her forever.  as you can see from her most recent photo, Daphne has developed a beautiful bond with my  20 month old son. She lays down  in his lap for story time every single night and allows him cuddle up with her until it's time for him to go to bed. Daphne doesn't run away in fear when he approaches too quickly, she'll even just sit and watch him as he runs around the house, screaming like a lunatic. She's become very playful and loves to bat around at my son's toys. We absolutely adore Daphne!

I'm a two-and-half-year-old beauty who's been wandering the streets pregnant or nursing for most of my life. I'm finally ready to settle down with my soulmate(s) to live a life of leisure. I love long walks by the lake at sunset and romantic picnics in fields full of flowers, but unfortunately my vet suggests that I live solely indoors from here on out. If you're not into PDA and lots of it, then I'm definitely not your gal. I'm a huge cuddle bug and enjoy sleeping with my foster parents and siblings at night.  My foster mom is pleasantly surprised at how intelligent I am. In a single attempt, I taught myself how to use the cat door so I could hang out on the screened-in back porch during the day and, on my very first night in a real home, I patiently waited for dinner at my bedroom door without whining and begging like my foster brothers. Much to my chagrin, those boys are pretty mean to me regardless of how ridiculously sweet I continue to be toward them.

I am spayed and have tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV. I'm also current on my vaccinations.

My only downfall is that I have Eosinophlic Granuloma Complex which sounds so much worse than it really is. EGC is an occurence of ulcers on my tongue that can sometimes cause pain while eating, although it didn't seem to hinder my appetite in the slightest. There is no known cause for this ailment but the experts believe it stems from allergies. Therefore, the two best treatment options are steroid injections twice a year and a hypoallergenic diet. I've already received one dose of steroids and the three sores I had on my tongue disappeared. Please note that EGC is NOT CONTAGIOUS to animals or humans. The Bengal cat is a fairly new breed, the result of careful breeding between the offspring of the Asian Leopard cat and several domestic breeds (Abyssian, Burmese, American Shorthair, and Egyptian Mau.) However, only the wild cat look is left in the breed, and they have the gentle, friendly temperament of their housecat ancestors. Bengals are extremely intelligent, and can be taught some commands. This is a very active breed that loves to be at the center of whatever its people are doing. Many also love water and will play with the water in their dishes--or even try to follow you into the shower! This is a breed that will get along with other pets and children, once it gets to know and trust them.
