Description:
Pepper is a very sweet Border Collie mix. Her owners dropped her off with someone with the promise that it was just for the weekend and then, yup, you guessed it, didn't come back. How sad is that? Because of this, we don't know a whole lot about her, but she is with one of our wonderful fosters who provided these great insights the day after picking her up from where she'd been abandoned:

Pepper was adopted about 2 years ago by a great couple. Since then peppers mommy died and her daddy just can't keep up the love, attention and care she needs. So she is now looking for her forever home again. Below is what her owner says about her:

She is a female long hair Black Lab mix 7 years old. (per our vet.)
Totally a indoor house dog
Weight 50 lbs.
Loves attention.
Loves to be around kids.
Takes to women better than men.
Good around other dogs.(not cats)
Loves to take walks.
Needs a fenced in yard to roam.
If she gets loose you will be in for the chase.
This dog is perfect for an older couple who can give her there the love and attention she needs.

"Pepper is a very sweet dog, shy and scared but loves to cuddle and be petted. Slept out of the crate in my bed last night with my other dogs. Is somewhat agressive to my other female dog Emme ( a 1 year old energetic GS puppy) but I have been keeping an eye on them and they don't get into anything major as long as I am there to keep them in check. Is fine with my smaller dog Bleu, a male..so this could be a factor. Housetrained yes, crate trained yes.  Likes car rides and chewing on bones. Did not chew up anything, nor tried to get out of my fence and walks well on a leash.

She is 50-60 pounds, looks a little overweight, but maybe that is because she has a small head like a Border Collie but a big body like a Chow. It is strange, but her eyes speak in sentences."
I love that last statement, "her eyes speak in sentences." Ooooo, doesn't that make you want to meet her? Amanda says that Pepper is really easy, not hyper, just real laid back. She says she is so grateful to be in a home with love..... These abandoned pets just break your heart sometimes......

Notes from 2nd foster:

Pepper is a very sweet girl once she has had time to adjust to a new home. She loves to lean up against you and will gladly cuddle in bed with you if you invite her up. She's not a big kisser, but I did receive a few kisses from her while she was here! Her coat is just amazing - so soft and shiny. Pepper does seem to be a picky eater, and seems prone to stomach upset in response to anxiety. Just be patient with her and give her lots of reassurance.
Pepper is not a "dog's dog" if you know what I mean. She attaches herself to her humans and will follow you around. She is not too interested in playing with other dogs. There has been a slight food aggression seen in two foster homes, so just be aware of this if you have other dogs and feed them in separate rooms.
Pepper is very lively and outgoing and LOVES, I mean LOVES car rides. She is nearly obsessed with the car! So if you are a person who likes to visit parks and take trips, this is your girl. Being a Border Collie she absolutely needs LOTS of exercise and stimulation. Just having a fenced yard is not enough for her. Pepper loves walks, and I mean long walks too....she could just keep going and going.
She has great indoor manners and is completely housetrained. She learned to use the doggie doors after only one training - so she is very smart. If you are an active person or a family with kids who will play with her, then please consider Pepper. She is very nervous at adoption events, but just know that once she gets in a home and settles in she is one great gal.
How she does with cats is difficult to describe. In one home she was fine, but there was just one cat. In my home where there are several, she was constantly wanting to search them out and there was some nipping involved. I don't think it is pure agression per se, but being a Border Collie, having lots of small animals running loose may turn on that "herding" trait and she seemed to work herself in a frenzy trying to corral all the cats. So if you have one cat, she might be fine, but if you have multiple felines, you might want to pass on Pepper.
