Description:
Camy came to us from a shelter where her time was more than up. The shelter manager adored her and begged for a rescue group to take her. Luckily Judy did, and now Camy is looking for her forever home!

Foster Update:  Camy is a very sweet girl who has quickly settled in to our home. She is super affectionate and loves to be petted and cuddled. She is housetrained and crate trained and is the perfect size at about 35 pounds. She can get jealous when the other dogs come to get petted, sometimes even growling at them, and has growled at strangers who approach her too quickly and try to pet her. She gets a little nervous around new people and in new situations, but with a little patience and attention and some treats, she soon warms up. She is afraid of riding in the car, but we're working on that by taking her on short, fun trips. Overall she is an absolutely sweet girl and does great with everyone in the house. She just needs a little more socialization with new people and dogs to help her come out of her shell. There's no telling what's happened to her in the past, but she's ready for a bright future. Camy loves to give kisses and be close to you - come meet this cutie in person and see what makes her so special!

***According to dogbreedinfo.com, in April 1899, Capt. Max von Stephanitz registered a dog named Horan as the first Deutsche Schäferhunde, which means German Shepherd Dog in English. Known for their tremendous loyalty and courage, they are calmly confident, but not hostile. This breed needs his people and should not be left isolated for long periods of time. They only bark when it is necessary. Serious and almost human in his intelligence, they have a great ability to learn. The breed is so intelligent and learns so readily that it has been used as a sheepdog, guard dog, in police work, as a guide for the blind, in search and rescue service, and in the military. The German Shepherd also excels in many other dog activities including schutzhund, tracking, obedience, agility, flyball, and ring sport. His fine nose can sniff out drugs and intruders, and can alert handlers to the presence of underground mines in time to avoid detonation, or gas leaks in a pipe buried 15 feet underground. A quick daily brushing is best unless hair in the house is not a problem. They should be bathed only once or twice a year to avoid skin oil depletion. Shepherds have a life expectancy of around 13 years.
