Description:
Isn't Sassy beautiful? She would love to find her forever home!
This Dober girl is about 6 years old & acts like a puppy. She is happy, full of energy, loves to play with tennis balls & craves attention . She has displayed some food aggression, not unusual in rescue dogs. It's easy enough to just feed them separately if there is more than one dog (we feed them in their crates.)

Sassy is cautious with new people & needs time to warm up. We have noticed she gets nervous if she hears screaming or yelling - whether it be outside or on the tv or radio. I don't think she was with other dogs before. It took 2 weeks before we could have her loose with our 3 dogs . She is very loving & very "needy" as far as attention. She had her HW treatment the last week of January and you can certainly tell she feels good now! She loves to stretch her legs running around the yard.

Her teeth are not the most beautiful ones you've ever seen but she had them cleaned at the vet. They don't seem to bother her, they just wouldn't get her into a commercial! She has no problem eating and loves chewing on nylabones & she is the only one smart enough of the 4 dogs at our house to figure out to bounce Kongs to try to get the goodies out! She does need work on the leash as she tends to get overexcited & I would definitely recommend obedience classes once she is in her forever home. She is smart as can be and should pick everything up very quickly!

We have noticed part of the right side of her tongue is missing. It does not seem to affect her; however you can expect to have your very own waterfall after she is done drinking water, so I would suggest having a towel nearby! We don't let her play too long outside when it is hot out so that she doesn't get overheated. She has a little "cowlick" on the back of her neck & upper back - very cute!

She absolutely craves attention and loves nothing more than to cuddle and follow you around. She hasn't had even 1 accident in the house and loves her bed. She should be a wonderful companion for someone. She loves having her tummy & ears rubbed. She has a stuffed toy that she loves to mouth but does not tear up (unlike the other dogs in our house!). She can get protective of it so we give it to her when she is separate from the other dogs.

Sassy is definitely an inside gal. A fenced yard is required. I would recommend she not go to a home with children younger than 14. She does fine with our older boys who are only here sometimes, but they have been around Dobies all of their lives. I would not recommend her for a household that has younger children either living there or frequently visiting.

Did you know that black dogs and cats are the least likely to be adopted? I don't know why that is. Maybe they just don't stand out. ZooToo recently interviewed Judy as part of a Black Dog Syndrome story that you can view at http://www.zootoo.com/zootootv/v/petpulse796blackdogsyndromeb2

***How much do you know about Dobermans? According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, this is a breed of relatively recent origin. It was developed in Germany in the 1860's, presumably by crossing among German Pinschers with Rottweilers, Beauceron, Pinschers, Greyhounds and English Greyhound to create the sleek and highly intelligent Doberman Pinscher. The creator of this mixture was a German tax collector named Louis Dobermann. Dobermann had to travel frequently through bandit-infested areas, and decided to "construct" a watchdog and bodyguard capable of handling any situation that might arise
