Bullwinkle is a delightful lab mix. He is full of joy and loves to romp with the other dogs. He also loves to "give paw", which is what he is doing in one of the photos. Such pretty markings too! His fur has a bit of length and wave to it, so we think that there might be a bit Setter in his family tree! Bullwinkle needs a strong canine owner who is able to put some love and consistency into his life. He'd be a forever best friend for the right person!
Bullwinkle was adopted from us a couple years ago but the poor guy was surrendered to the local pound because they had magically became allergic to him. Unfortunately, he was in rough shape... infested with fleas, horribly skinny and had some nasty flea dermaitis! Thank god he came back to us when he did... And we're happy to announce that he has made an amazing recovery. He is a wonderful dog and so very sweet, as he has done great with people and children of all ages!
Foster Update: Bullwinkle is such a charmer! He loves to be pet and loved. He likes to run zooms around the back yard with my 9 month puppy! He does excellent in his crate, barely any crying or barking when I put him in there for the evening or morning when I go to work! He is very friendly to all he meets and just wants to have fun and play! He knows Sit and Paw. He is just bursting with joy and can't help but make you smile! He loves dog, cats and people. He loves to swim and is very active, so he should have a fenced in back yard to get all his energy out. Bullwinkle is such a love and throws himself down at your feet for attention and a belly rub. He would do great with just about any family willing to give him the attention and exercise he deserves!
*** How familiar are you with the Labrador Retriever? According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
