Foster Update 8/15/12:

Hi. My name is Kallie, and I am patiently waiting for the perfect human to come along and sweep me off my feet!  When my foster mom took me in, I was quite a chunky-monkey, but I have slimmed down and lost some of my pregnancy weight. My babies have found great homes, but I am still looking for my forever home.

I will be shy and standoffish at the Oviedo adoption site, but I just don't like being in a cage. I am great with people, even kids who play with me, and I am even cool with my foster mom's dogs, although they are a bit crazy!!! LOL I love to play with toys and things that are waved in front of me. My foster mom get's a kick out of watching me be silly! Although I am very playful, I am also very "chill"! I love to sit and just watch things in the house. I am very observant. If you have a window where I can perch to watch nature, I would love that! My favorite is to watch lizards and squirrels. They fascinate me and I could watch them all day!

I have lots of love to give. If you want to snuggle, I like to do that too. If you have other cats and dogs, I am not jealous or dominant... I can blend in very easily! As far as food goes, I am not a picky eater, but I must admit, I love tasty treats now and then!

Do you think we are a match? If you would like to meet me and/or adopt me, you can talk to the nice people at Pet Rescue by Judy! ;-)

Foster Update - 7/26/12: Kallie is beautiful, sweet and loves to be petted. She’s very friendly and playful! She will absolutely make you laugh with the things that she does, and she gets along well with other cats and dogs. If you go see her at the adoption site in Oviedo, she won't seem like any of these things because she hates that cage. But I assure you... she is all of the above and more. She would make a wonderful pet and is a true joy to have around!

Kallie came to us with her 6 adorable kittens.  She was a very loving and protective mother.  She would sit in the doorway to guard her kittens but had no problem with us coming to hold them.  She was such a good mother that when her kittens started to explore, she would come out of the room and almost give them the "What are you doing?!  Get back in the room!" Meow to her babies, and they would immediately run to the bedroom.  It was quite a funny sight.  When she came to us her tail was almost bare; now with some love and help her fur has returned and she is one beautiful calico.  She is quite cuddly and loves affection.  This pretty mother calico needs a loving forever home!

"Calico" refers to a cat's coloring. It is not a separate breed. One study has attempted to trace the origins of the coat pattern, and the research led them to port cities on the Mediterranean and in Northern Africa, the theory being that the cats were on board the ships that sailed those trading routes. (Cats were frequently "employed" on ships to keep rats away from the cargo.) Male calicos are rare--only 1 in 3,000--and are usually sterile. Calicos are believed to bring good luck. In some parts of the US, they are called money cats. The Japanese maneki neko--"waving cat"--figurine is almost always a calico.
