Description:
Sandy is exactly what her name says... a mystery!  We are not really sure where she came from... but she's good with other dogs and people!  She needs a secure fence since she will take an opportunity to run if allowed off leash or out the door.  She is NOT good with cats and should not live or be allowed outside if a cat is near!  She also knows how to escape a fence in pursuit of a stray cat.  Sandy needs a home with structure and daily exercise, or she will show signs of boredom by digging.

Foster Update:  She is very laid back type dog, when playing inside with dog toys I found only Kong made ones would lasted.  Sandy never tore up anything in my house, she likes being in same room with me and she slept in my bedroom on dog bed in corner where she could look out window.  Sandy has never begged when I was eating my meals which was great.  We take half mile morning walks on nature preserve trail and an evening walks in empty lots around my house.  She is not agressive toward other dogs, but does get excited and wants to chase after cats, motorcycles, golf carts. Sandy has a really bad fear of thunder and lighting and fireworks.

Foster Update 7/26/13: Sandy is such a sweet dog.  Most of the time she obeys the commands, "sit, stay, and git."  We gave her a bath today and she stood there while we washed her.  She didn't try sitting down, or rolling as some dogs do.  She looks forward to her walks, and we are working with her on not pulling and barking at bikers, squirrels, etc.  Sandy enjoys my 7 year old daughter petting her and loving on her.  At night Sandy, sleeps on the floor next to one of our beds.  She likes people.

Sandy qualifies for our senior for senior program, if adopted by a senior (55+) her adoption fee is $75.00

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
