Description:
Foster Update 12/4 - Brie is an absolute pleasure to have around. She is very affectionate, responds when she is called, and is working on basic commands. Brie does not chew on her leash, pull you as you walk her, or lunge at oncoming dogs and people, making taking her out very enjoyable. She was very well behaved around a lot of unfamiliar company over the Thanksgiving holiday, and stole hearts with her unique personality. When riding in the car Brie is as quiet as a mouse. She is so well behaved lying down and enjoying the ride. She is an amazing long distance car rider.

Brie enjoyed the freeness of being at the dog park, and had no issues with any of the dogs at the park. She can eat and drink out of the same bowl as other dogs with out any food aggression.

Brie also had a swimming pool experience where she jumped in the pool from the side wall. She swam for a little bit, and then started to panic when she realized she was the only dog still in the pool. She can swim though!

Brie displays no problems with calm, gentle children. She allows them to pet, play with her, and even take her on walks. Wild children make her a bit nervous (who can blame her?) Brie will make the perfect stocking stuffer!

Foster Update 11/18 - I picked Brie up from the adoption center a few days ago, and on our way home she was a little nervous but who could blame her she was with a new dog and new people. Half way through the ride she warmed up, and started to enjoy the wind blowing on her face. She doesn't like sticking her head out the window, but the air hitting her where she was seated was enough for her to wag her tail.Once home she checked out her new surroundings, and it was time for her bath. She was VERY good while I gave her a bath. She didn't try to run or jump out of the tub.

She doesn't jump up so you don't have to worry about her on the furniture, but she does appreciate when you pick up her up and put her on the furniture to join you. She by no means needs to be or displays that she wants to be on the furniture she is very happy with finding a comfortable place on the floor. Although her hind legs are a little lower than her front ones don't let that fool you she can still hold her own. When she is playing with other dogs she makes a gargling sound and stays right in the action. The sound maybe intimidating for some people but she means nothing by it. Some dogs bark when they play, she makes a funny, gargling sound when she plays. If you throw a ball for her she will go get it and bring it back. She doesn't quite understand giving the ball back yet, but she has no problem with me taking the ball out of her mouth. Her tail goes a mile a minute especially when you ask her if she wants to go out. She enjoys walking around the lake, and watching the ducks. She has never made a mess in the house i.e. accident, chewing, or going into things she shouldn't. You can even eat food at her level and she doesn't beg or try to grab your food. She is one of the most grateful and appreciative dogs I have ever met. Just stick you face in hers and she will show you by giving you kisses.

Her coloring is quite unique as well. The right side of her face and ear is black and the left side of her face and ear is white with her body being a mixture of both. She is VERY soft making her a pleasure to pet, and she loves the rub downs. She is very friendly when new people come around, and will protect the home when she hears noises. She isn't a barker but if she has to, she barks just enough to let someone know "I'm in here, this isn't the house you want." Any loving family would be very lucky to have this dog.

Brie-Brie is a cutie who looks like a mix between a Boston Terrier and a French Bulldog. She was abandoned for euthanization in a state that uses the gas chamber but was rescued by a vet. She had some type of injury that appeared to leave her paralyzed in both back legs. After X-rays it was determined that there were no permanent injuries or defects. Another no kill shelter took her in, and when she first came to them, she would drag her back end and scoot forward to play. Then she started to put weight on one leg. They were concerned that she would have to have the other leg amputated. But then she started to try to put some weight on it. It has been several months and they helped her to learn to walk again. She still walks with her back legs a bit lower than her front, but she plays and walks and is just a happy ball of energy!

Brie-Brie came to us from that no-kill rescue because they are being forced to downsize. She is about 1.5 yrs old. She is crate trained and is learning to walk on a leash. She loves her buddy Groucho and can play a little rough for other small breed dogs or cats. She can learn though! She is very sweet and warms up to new people easily. She loves to be petted and get attention - a real sweetheart.

Brie-Brie came with her buddy Groucho and they are quite happy staying together in one medium-sized crate.

According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, in 1830, when combats between Bulldogs and bulls were at there height, lovers of this "sport" decided to create a dog that would attack even more agilely. By crossing the Bulldog with the Old English Terrier and adding a bit of Spanish Pointer blood, they came up with the Bull Terrier. However, Bull Terriers were not the most successful fighters. In 1850 the white-coated variety (nicknamed the "White Cavalier") was obtained and soon became a fashionable pet of the gentry. The breed has been used as a guard, ratter, herder and watchdog. The Miniature was developed to have the same qualities in a dog of more manageable size. Though this breed was once a fierce gladiator, he is much gentler now. A Bull Terrier might have a preventive effect and it might defend it's owner in a truly critical situation, but it isn't breed to be a guard dog. Courageous, scrappy, fun-loving, active, clownish and fearless. The Bull Terrier is a loyal, polite, and obedient dog. They become very attached to their owners. The Bull Terrier thrives on affection and makes a fine family pet. Bull Terriers like to be doing something and fit in well with active families where they receive a great deal of companionship and supervision. They do not do well in situations where they are left alone for 8 hours a day. This breed can be a wonderful pet if very thoroughly socialized and trained, but not recommended for most households. Fond of both grown-ups and children, but may be too energetic for small children. They cannot tolerate teasing and children should be taught to respect the dog. They can be very protective and willful. Do not encourage this breed to be possessive or jealous. Bull Terriers may try to join into family rough housing or quarrel. They need very firm training and lots of exercise. Bull Terriers must be given a lot of companionship, or they may become destructive. Be sure to socialize them well and remain their pack leader 100% of the time, otherwise, they can be extremely aggressive with other dogs. Unaltered males usually do not get along with other male dogs. Males and females can live together happily and two females can also be a good combination with care and supervision. They are not recommended with other pets. They make excellent watch dogs. This breed can be somewhat difficult to train. They have a life expectancy of 10 to 12 years.
