Happiest dog ever!!

Atlas is a TV 6 star he is a  wonderful loving dog house and crate trained gets along with all the dogs, loves car rides and walks. Listens to commands gives you paw and kisses. Great for an older child  because of his size. He is not a barker or hyper.

Atlas is a sweet boy who was turned in by his owner along with Lucy due to a divorce. We prefer they are adopted 'together'. Atlas appears to be about 1-2 years old and one ear stands up and the other flops down. He looks like a White Shepherd/Lab mix handsome boy, don't you think?

Atlas was recently adopted and although he did very well in the new home he wasn't great with the young child in the home! So lets put him in a home with children older than 12. He can be very mouthy with people so some training would help too! This is what the family that had to recently return him had to say:
Atlas is a beautiful dog who got compliments whenever we would walk him around our neighborhood. He is excellent with kids but because of his size I would recommend that children be at least 10 years old. Atlas does not counter surf or growl/bite when one reaches for his food or toys while he is playing with them. He is a very smart dog who understands various commands. He knows how to do the basic sit, shake, lie down, drop commands and we were able to train him the "leave it" command for those times he was sniffing/investigating something we didnt want him to.
He is a strong dog and can pull if something catches his attention but a choke collar helps immensely. He got along great with all the other dogs in the neighborhood. He will let out a warning bark at people and animals he doesnt know, but once he is introduced he becomes a fast friend. He will fetch and loves to go for a jog. He is crate and potty trained. He knows that it's time for "night night" and will go into his crate willingly. He does get along with cats IF the cats are ok with dogs. If the cats run at the site of the dog, he will give chase just out of curiosity.
Atlas was a great friend to me and I am still pretty broken up about having to part with him. He truly is the ideal dog which makes me confident that he will be adopted fairly quickly.

Foster Update: Atlas is such a sweet dog! He is completely potty trained, great with people, and good with other dogs as long as food isn't around. He can be a little food possesive so I would suggest if you have another dog feeding them separate. He loves to lay around, and does enjoy sleeping on my couch! He is not a chewer at all and although I do recommend crating when ever you are not home especially for the first couple of weeks, Atlas has been left alone for up to 6 hours with free-range of the home and did no damage to anything. He is a gorgeous dog and so loving! He can be a little mouthy so I would say kids that are above eye level (10-12 years and up) would be the best situation, he would be a great addition to the family!!

***According to dogbreedinfo.com, in April 1899, Capt. Max von Stephanitz registered a dog named Horan as the first Deutsche Schäferhunde, which means German Shepherd Dog in English. Known for their tremendous loyalty and courage, they are calmly confident, but not hostile. This breed needs his people and should not be left isolated for long periods of time. They only bark when it is necessary. Serious and almost human in his intelligence, they have a high learning ability. The breed is so intelligent and learns so readily that it has been used as a sheepdog, guard dog, in police work, as a guide for the blind, in search and rescue service, and in the military. The German Shepherd also excels in many other dog activities including schutzhund, tracking, obedience, agility, flyball, and ring sport. His fine nose can sniff out drugs and intruders, and can alert handlers to the presence of underground mines in time to avoid detonation, or gas leaks in a pipes buried 15 feet underground. A quick daily brushing is best unless hair in the house is not a problem. They should be bathed rarely, only once or twice a year to avoid skin oil depletion. Shepherds have a life expectancy around 13 years.
