Meet Leela – Our Little Miracle Pup!
Say hello to Leela, an adorable little Dachshund mix with a big personality and an even bigger story!
Leela came to us under very serious circumstances. This sweet pup had ingested a foreign object — a toy — that became dangerously lodged in her digestive tract. Thankfully, our longtime partners at Healthy Pets stepped in right away. Dr. Pinzon and his incredible team worked quickly and compassionately to diagnose and remove the obstruction, saving Leela’s life.
We’re beyond grateful to Dr. Pinzon and his dedicated staff for always being there when pets need them the most. After her emergency surgery, they reached out to us at Pet Rescue By Judy, knowing we’d give Leela the loving second chance she deserves.
Now that she’s healing, Leela will be looking for a forever home where she can enjoy cuddles, walks, and plenty of (safe!) toys. THIS IS NOT AN APARTMENT OR TOWNHOUSE DOG VERY VOCAL. LEELA NEEDS A HOME WITH PERSON OR COUPLE STAY AT HOME. Great with little kids if granparents with WELL BEHAVED CHILDREN GREAT JUDY
She’s as sweet as can be, full of affection, and ready to bring joy into someone’s life. Could that someone be you?
Dachshunds are prone to obesity, which can lead to serious back problems in this long breed. It's important to stick to a strict diet and ensure proper daily exercise.
Never allow a dachshund to jump on or off furniture or in or out of cars, which is a common cause of slipped discs in this breed. Ramps are a good idea if your dachshund is allowed on furniture.
Their floppy ears are also prone to infection. Follow your vet's guidelines for proper and frequent ear cleaning/evaluations.
The dachshund loves to trail scents and dig. A fully fenced-in yard that is reinforced along the base is beneficial. Never leave a dachshund unattended.
