Sophie was originally picked up by a local shelter in poor condition and with injuries.  PRBJ agreed to take Sophie and work to get her healthy.  Immediately she was taken to Healthy Pets where their wonderful veterinary staff worked with getting Sophie a treatment plan.  

Sophie's leg is all healed up and she is ready for a furever home.    Sophie is a delightful goofy girl who likes to give big sloppy kisses and wag her tail.  She likes to spend time out in the sun and will go outside every time she has a chance.   She likes chewing on bones such as nylabones and benebones and is a very strong chewer.    She loves clean comfy blankets and bedding and will try to climb over you to get on them even as you are changing them out.   She is a little too interested in little dogs so we do not recommend her being in a home with them and probably would not recommend cats as she can be quite strong.    She gets along with big dogs but can be selective as she sometimes gets jealous.

Sophie needs:

-a single family home as she has a very deep bark

-a hooman/family who is around most of the time as she has separation anxiety and reacts by constant barking

-special urinary diet and Cosequin supplement daily

Sophie is hard of hearing and does well with hand signals.    She can hear best if she is facing you as well.    Sophie sleeps and eats in a crate and know the command "Sophie, place".     She does need to be settled before leaving her at bedtime or she will resume barking.   She also needs bedding changed in the morning as she tend to leak urine.     We use a rewashable bed pad and that works well.
