Beautiful Patches was dumped off at the house of a cat lover. She has a house full of cats and is hoping to find a wonderful home for Patches. Here is her description:
Patches was dumped off at my house last spring. We suspect she came from one of the foreclosed homes. She was so well taken care of, already spayed, and only a couple matts in her long fur that we knew she wasn't a stray. She must have been in a home where the other cats were not very active. My cats are very active and she wasn't too keen on participating. But she's getting used to it. She's more likely to take the position of not wanting to be bothered, and not an agressor at all. Definitely a calico diva attitude. She's good at finding her own quiet space to lounge in the sun, preferably a spot up high on a dresser. During playtime she loves to chase furry mice, batting them around the floor, anything with feathers, cat nip, and playing the string game with her human.
We've spent a good amount of time brushing up on manners and house training. She prefers a litter box with shallow litter. This is typical of longhaired cats who don't like the litter touching their fur. We used attractant litter to get her used to litter boxes in new spaces. And she likes Fresh Step.
Even though she's long hair she does a great job maintaining herself. I brush her a couple times a week. She does not like getting her tummy or tail brushed, so she needs to be scruffed for that. But a couple quick strokes does the job. And she hasn't coughed up any hairballs that I've noticed. She does leave hair and little hairballs behind, so be forewarned. This gorgeous calico masterpiece comes with shedding.
Food is a non-issue. She'll eat anything. In fact whenever it's dinner time she's right there at your feet. She loves to brush her long feathery tail up and down your leg to sweet talk you into giving her a little treat. And as you are walking to her food dish she vocalizes her excitement.
Bedtime: When I first got her and spent one-on-one time with her in a spare bedroom to get her acclimated she slept on the bed with me. She would get up on my chest and knead and purr. She loved the quiet one-on-one attention. And then would sleep at my side. Since giving her the run of the house she finds a box or cat bed to sleep in.
