Foster Update, 5/1: Bess is such a beautiful dog. She is sweet, very shy, and incredibly gentle. She loves other dogs and greets them with a very nice sniff and will give them a kiss on their nose. She is shy around people and and loud noises. But in just three short days in my home, Bess has started to come out of her shell. She trusts other dogs and would do best in a home with a moderately playful dog who has been seeking a companion and can teach her how to trust people and to just be a dog. Bess is learning how to be a dog from my dog. She is enjoing going out and has very tentatively started to explore my home, she feels safest when my older dog is around her or next to me. She is beginning to have trust in me because my dog trusts me. Bess is not aggressive and is extremely gentle. She is potty trained and you can just tell she wants to play and get snuggles and lots of pets and just wants to be a dog. She would do best in a home with someone who is patient and kind and able to provide an environment for her to thrive. She likes being outdoors, smelling flowers, and sniffing the grass. We would not recommend a home with younger children for Bess due to her shyness. Bess is so beautiful and is going to make such a wonderful companion for the right home and has been the sweetest most wonderful little thing to join my household. Check out her photos and watch her videos below :)

Bess and her 7 pups came to PRBJ from a high kill shelter.  Bess was a great mom. She is a dog that needs a calm and caring adult only home to give her lots of patience and a quiet atmosphere to help her with her shyness. Bess needs a fenced backyard for a safe place to goes outside. Right now, she goes out for a few minutes and then wants to come back in the house. Hopefully, once she builds her confidence, she will want to romp and play outside like a typical 3-year-old Hound.
Bess is housetrained. I give her kisses and hugs, but she does not respond..she just allows me to show affection.
