PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH ENGLISH BULLDOGS TO BE CONSIDERED AS HIS FOREVER HOME.
Brutus has spent most of his life as an outdoor dog. Yes, that’s correct, an English Bulldog living outside and on a patio....that is, until a kind man convinced the owners it was not the right kind of life for the dog.
Unfortunately, the man knew he could not care for the dog and get him what he needed. So, he got Brutus neutered and all his vaccines, and then asked a vet office to help find a loving home. That’s where PRBJ stepped in to assist.
Brutus has been living with one of our foster families who is familiar with cephalic breeds, and now he is ready to find his forever home.
English Bulldogs do require attention to keeping their nose rise and other facial folds clean. They also have a tail pocket that needs to be cleaned. And their ears and eyes need to be monitored because they are prone to infectio or other issues with them. Brutus will require eye drops/ointment probably for the rest of his life because he does have ongoing eye issues along with medicated baths once every 7-10 days for his skin. He needs to have his chin and neck wiped as much as possible throughout the day to help keep it dry because he is a very slobbery dog and wet skin is more prone to get yeast infections. .
He’s a sweet boy who loves food. He can be stubborn at times, but for the most part he listens especially if he thinks it involves food. He enjoys lying on the cool tile near his people. He gets along with kids, dogs, and cats. He's more of a lazy dog than playful. He will go outside and trot a round for a couple mins but wants to go back inside. He doesn't really play with toys but likes nylabones or things he can just chew on. He does have a sensitive stomach, so new owners should not change his food or doggie treats ....and he should never eat people foods even if he cries for it :) We have been successful with some veggies but have not tried much because once his tummy gets upset it takes a few days to calm down. We use a few pieces of food as a treat and he is happy with that.
Special Needs: Regular cleaning/drying of skin folds and tail pocket; eye drops for life; medicated baths every 7 to 10 days.
