One of our volunteers rescued Samson from a local kill shelter a couple months ago. She was there rescuing Cooper the Yellow Lab and would stop and pet the terrier when she went to visit. The terrier had great things written about him on his kennel card but day after day he was passed up. When the terrier’s photo was taken off the shelter’s website, the volunteer asked where he was and was told he was on the euthanasia list. So the volunteer rescued him too. Before adopting him, she found out he was heartworm positive. Today, Samson is done with his treatment and needs to be tested for heartworms again in about six months. In the meantime it’s essential that whoever adopts him keeps him on Heartguard or another preventative.
Samson is approximately 2 years old and weighs 85 lbs. He's playful and energetic and is good with other dogs, cats and children. He still jumps up a little so he might not do well with small children. Samson is neutered, crate trained, up-to-date on all his shots, and microchipped. He knows “sit” but could use some basic training. He does walk well on a leash, and he loves to ride in cars or just curl up on the bed with a nylabone. The only reason the volunteer can’t keep him permanently is that she has two other large dogs and a small condo.
