Orlando Police brought Bessie to PRBJ after her owner was found in very poor health and the dog had not been fed in days. Unfortunately, the senior owner in failing health was not even sure that she had a dog. Poor Bessie’s collar was so tight it as caused some damage to her skin and fur. We hope this will heal, but unfortunately, she is now nervous about anything around her neck.  Because of past trauma she gets protective and will scream and try to nip anyone invading this space because she feels you are trying to harm her.  With the help of a loving foster, Bessie is on the road to recovery and learning to trust humans.

Bessie is a very active, very playful little girl with tons of energy.....after all, she is only one year old!!


Bessie is about 90% housetrained. As for cats, she ignores them. Again, we cannot guarantee you the same response from her or how your cat will react to her in another home.   We feel older kids would be better than toddlers due to Bessie's size.
