Description:Zumba is a tan lab mix who has all the traits of a lab. She is loving, affectionate, family dog that would fit well into any situation.
She came to us from a shelter who was overwhelmed with dogs. That's right -- lots of shelters are overwhelmed these days so we need your support more than ever so please think about giving Zumba her forever home.
Foster update 10/9: Well, our first week with Zumba has been just wonderful! She is a great dog who has already had some training and we're continuing to work with her. She's very playful outside - she LOVES her rope toy and our long morning walks! Inside she's very calm and reserved - even when we're eating or when someone comes to the door! She IS house and crate-trained and she only whined a little the first few nights that we crated her and actually closed the door of her crate. She's great with our kids (11 and 4) and loves to be scratched behind the ears and rubbed on her belly! She had found "her spot" on the living room floor and sleeps there while we're all being lazy watching t.v. She's such a sweetie and a great family dog!
*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
