Description:
Here's a description of our little music man from his foster:
Elton John is one of the sweetest cats I have ever encountered. He and his litter mate, Billy Joel, appear to be black but when viewed in the light, their fur is actually a beautiful chocolate brown. Elton is incredibly affectionate, playful and inquisitive. He gets along very well with my three older cats and loves to share their toys. One of his most endearing personality traits is the fact that Elton is a very vocal kitty. He has the cutest squeaky meows and isn’t at all hesitant to let you know when he wants to be held, fed, played with, etc. Not only does Elton sleep in bed with us every night, his favorite place to pass out is under the covers near my feet. Give him a nice face rub and you’ll gain a best friend for life!

Centuries of superstition in the U.S. have given the black cat a bad name. But in other countries such as England and Japan, the black cat is considered to be good luck! In fact, Charles I of England owned a black cat and loved it so much, the cat was kept under constant guard. When the cat became ill and died, it just so happened that Charles was arrested the next day.... How's that for luck?!

Due to the association of black cats with witches and other "dark forces" in the United States, there is an increase in abuse of black cats around the time of Halloween. Many people will adopt black cats for "decoration" and then release them. For this reason, many animal rescues do not make black cats available for adoption during the month of October.
