NO STAIRS due to having issues going up them.

Over night 1/30:

Pirate is a sweetheart!  He's so well behaved, loving, and an easy going dog.

While Pirate was away for his overnight, he enjoyed a walk around the block, shopping at Pet Supermarket, playing with toys, relaxing and snoozing. He appeared to "watch tv" while we were hanging out before bed.

Pirate rides well in the car. He'd probably prefer to ride shot gun if the front seat is open. He was fine in the backseat if both front seats were occupied. He settled into the house quickly, was perfect inside, and preferred to stay close by us. He looked forward to his meals and didn't waste any time finishing his dinner and breakfast.

He was good on the leash as we walked around the block in the neighborhood.  We spent some time walking around in the yard several times because he didn't want to go much further.  Pirate has a playful nature.  He tugged and played with a squeaky llama and then fell asleep next to it.  We got him a Nerf infinity tug toy at Pet Supermarket, and he enjoyed playing tug o war.  He also liked using it as a chew toy.

Pirate is super chill, doesn't bark much, and is great companion.

Dog for a day with Pie Pie 1/14:

When we first met him, he was so sweet. Seemed very open and excited to meet new people, keen for cuddles and any opportunities to play tug-of-war with his rope toy!  . He was really great and calm in the car- stayed put pretty much the whole time. Inside our home, he was also very respectful. He is a good listener and responds to any "No" and other basic commands really well. He was quite funny with his little tug-of-war rope toy and regularly brought it to us or dropped it at our feet as a signal for playtime. Also loves just chilling out and being pet/cuddled. On walks, he was great on the leash. Rarely pulls, and if you give a little tug to change direction, he will easily follow your lead. Otherwise, he usually walks right beside you. Lastly, we took him to an open field park and were able to let his leash go to play fetch with his rope toy, which he really loved. And even off-leash he listened very well and always came back to us after fetching his toy. Overall, a very great  day  with a sweet and fun  dog

PER OUR VET AT THIS TIME PIRATE WOULD BENEFIT BY EATING ZD DRY FOOD.  ZD IS GOOD FOR THE SKIN AND ALLERGIES.

Pirate is an Old English Bulldog but our system doesn't carry his breed. Pirate is a super sweet, loveable dog. Tug a war is his favorite game and just like any other bulldog, he loves food. Now Pirate has to be food that won't affect his skin. Even though he is big he wants to be a lap dog if given the chance.
Pirates little companion Molly got adopted leaving Pirate at the rescue alone.   Pirate did have some medical concerns that have all been taken care of.   Now it is his turn to go home.    It is recommended that he be the only pet.   He is a very easy dog despite his size.   He will go outside do his business and then be happy to watch tv with you.

Regretfully, Pirate's owner was not able to care for him any longer. Pirate is good
with all children and people. He is a very loving dog.
Pirate does not particularly care for other dogs and is fine being only pet. Pirate is easily startled when he's asleep, and owners suggested not just walking up to him, but to talk to him/call his name as you approach him. He is almost 8 yrs after all, and is entitled to some senior quirks~Pirate, like many dogs, will go and hide if there is heavy rain or a thunder storm.
Pirate is a wonderful dog for an adult home where he can share their loving personalities and have safe place to spend his golden years:)
