Description:FOSTER UPDATE (7-18-11): Penelope is truly a beautiful cat. When I first fostered her, she was very timid and didn't really want anything to do with people and would hide. Now she is very social and doesn't hide. She will pick a cozy spot and be content laying there looking beautiful. She is good with other dogs and cats in the home, although she doesn't interact with them. She is not a picky eater at all, but she does enjoy an occasional canned food treat every now and then. She loves to be petted, but is not needy for attention. She will make a wonderful pet for whoever adopts her!
FOSTER UPDATE (4-16-11): Penelope is an extremely beautiful calico persian mix cat, with very soft, long hair. She is very low-maintenance and pretty much keeps to herself, and makes a beautiful show-piece for any home. She loves a treat of canned cat food now and then, but also is very content with dry food. As far as her day to day activities, she pretty much lounges around all day. She was not much of a snuggler and didn't really like to be held, but she has come a long way, and now welcomes you petting her when passing by and will let you give her a back rub and will even let you hold her for short intervals. She is very happy just laying around wherever she finds a comfortable spot to curl up in. She is litter trained and will never try to dart out the door, she loves the inside and loves being spoiled!

Penelope was adopted from us all the way back in 2004 and was returned because her owners new husband is allergic to her. Our poor Penelope. She was living a nice comfy life and now she finds herself back here with no family.
As you can imagine, she is used to being around people and is ready to become a wonderful house cat. Think about how greatful she'll be to find herself home sweet home again. Will she be your sweet girl?
According to cat-lovers-only.com, the Calico cat breed is actually not a breed at all, but a tri-color coat patter, often black, red, and white. Many different types of cats can have this coat pattern, and it is not restricted to any particular type of breed. All three colors are in a distinct patches, not mixed as in Tortoiseshells. To be a true tri-color, a calico cat's colors must be: 1) white; 2) red or cream; and 3) black, blue, chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, or fawn. The variations in color from red and black are caused by a gene which dilutes, or lightens up the basic color, and produces a dilute calico cat, most commonly with a coat of white, cream, and blue."
