Pacino is a lovely sweet Yellow Lab who obviously has a very forgiving heart.  And why do I write such a thing?  Because he has scars on his body that look like they are the result of someone burning him!  I wish I could say that this is the first time we have seen such a thing, but it isn't.  And yet, Pacino is as happy and loving as any other lab pup you would ever hope to meet.  Aren't dogs just amazing?  Because of what he has been through, we do not think he should be placed in a home with small dogs.  But people?  Oh yeah!  He'll love you forever!  Will you be the family that gives this fellow back the love he so sweetly gives away?

7/12/2009 Volunteer update:
Pacino is a very beautiful yellow lab whom seems to have a troubled past. He of course has the obvious burns on his sides and can a bit timid when first meeting people but soon comes to life. Pacino was adopted by a lovely family with 2 children, he did very well in the enviorment but become protective of the children. He was no accepting strangers into the home very well and the family felt with all the random friends and kids whom came in and out of the home that pacino would do better in a less hectic home. We have also learned the Pacino does not do well with cats. As for other dogs, our trainer Paul Pipatone has worked with him and has found with a strong pack leader and a good introduction he gets along with other dogs. Upon first meeting another dog Pacino becomes uncomfortable and defensive but with some strong leadership and reassurance from the owner he can walk beside, play with and even love up on another dog. It was previously believe he would not do well with another dog as he growled and barked at other dogs upon first meeting them. I believe Pacino had a rough start in live but with much love and patience he will blossom and become a excellent member of the family!

7/29 Foster Update:
We fell in love with Pacino at first sight.  He is smart, alert, loving, and just a great dog!  We were ready to adopt him but discovered he did not get along with our cats.  He was great on walks, never barked, and was calm and confident.  Pacino loved to be around people and be petted – a very friendly dog!

*** According to www.dogbreedinfo.com, the Labrador Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. Once known as the "St John's Dogs," the Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds in the United States. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada the Labrador was trained to jump overboard into the icy waters to haul fisherman's nets to shore. Specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by English ships coming from Labrador, where the dog's fine retrieving instincts were honed and developed. One of the best family dogs and canine companions because of their gentle, loving disposition, the highly trainable Labrador also excels in drug detection, as a guide for the blind, and service dog for the disabled. The breed is also an outstanding obedience and field trial competitor. Highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high-spirited. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. They have an excellent, reliable, temperament and are friendly, superb with children and equable with other dogs. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family. Labs are easily trained. These dogs are watchdogs, not guard dogs, although some have been known to guard. They have a life expectancy of 10-12 years.
