Foster Update: Vander would make a great addition to any home. He is great in our home, sweet with our dog and the perfect size at 25 pounds.
He sleeps through the night, does not get on the furniture/bed, is leash-trained, and eats well. He rides well in the car and likes other dogs especially ones his size or slightly smaller.
He loves to go for walks or be in the yard and is perfectly house trained. We don’t recommend a home with cats as he will chase small animals in the yard like squirrels. He would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time but does great when you leave him. If another dog is in the home, it is important the dog is Vander's size or smaller. While he loves other dogs and likes to play, he has a genetic condition with his kneecaps which produces a weakness in his back legs. The good news is It doesn't stop him from walking or stairs but it can be difficult for him to jump or play with big dogs. You can see videos of him playing with our 17 pound dog on PRBJ's Instagram page.
When Vander arrived from Korea he was scared and became very attached to his foster family, especially any women in the home. Now in 2023 he is nicely settled in his current foster home and takes well to each member of the family but still prefers women. We would recommend a home with only a few people and
prefer a fenced-in yard
where he can run around and someone who loves to go for active walks as he loves his walks!!
History: Vander was born in Korea into the meat market trade and brought to our rescue in 2019. He stayed with a foster until he was adopted in 2020 but sadly, he was found as a stray in August of 2023. We brought him back to our rescue and provided treatment for fur loss and weakness in his back legs. His fur is growing back, and his back legs are doing well. Good food, medicine, and rest with a devoted foster mom has done wonders.
