Description:

Happy Candy came to us from a kill shelter with three of her babies. Not only was she a wonderful mom to her puppies, but she is also great with all other dogs! Candy has the most incredible temperament and is a happy go lucky girl. She loves car rides and laying in the sun. Candy can be a bit of an escape artist, and new owners will need be watchful and observant of open doors~We think she loves being outside so much, she's always looking for an opportunity to go out and run around:) She loves being around people at the centet and plays well with her canine buddy, Raguel.
Now that all of her wonderful puppies have been adopted, it is now Candy's turn to find her furever home! Please fill out a dog4day/adoption application and come meet this staff favorite!

Dog for a Day Update:

Just wanted to share our experience of taking Candy for a day.

She has got to be the most chill, laid-back dog you have at the rescue! She is smart, obedient carefree.

Upon leaving the rescue, I opened the back door of my truck and she hopped in like she had done it a thousand times. She stayed quiet most of the time with the exception of carefully climbing between the bucket seats and over the console to sit on Janet's lap. I asked Candy if she wanted to stop by the park and walk for a bit but her look said "No, just get me to your place and we can hang out."

When we got there, almost a one hour ride, I walked her around the grass for awhile in case she had business to take care of but no, she just looked around. We sat outside for a time and I attached a long lead to allow her some freedom of movement. she wandered around for a bit then laid down on a shady spot of driveway. The UPS truck showed up for a delivery. She lifted her head but never made a sound.

When we went inside her mood didn't change. She wandered around for a bit, found a spot on the floor to her liking and laid down. I tried to get her to climb on the couch to sit with me but someone has taught her to stay off the furniture. She came when called, allowing petting and scratching but when I was done she didn't beg for more, just laid down.

If you are looking for a quiet, unassuming pup that will wait to be called, this may be the dog for you.
