Description:
November 7th Dog 4 a Day update!    We had the best time with Olivia . She loves to fetch and could run all day until she’s tired enough for a nap. She is super curious about birds and some other dogs but is not aggressive in any way. We took her to the beach and she wasn’t crazy about the ocean or swimming but loved the open space to run and play. She’ll cuddle up next to you while she rests and loves any attention and pets she gets. Olivia will make any active family very happy, especially with those signature floppy ears.

Olivia was adopted as a puppy from a kill shelter. When her owner could not care for her anymore, they contacted her previous foster mom. The foster mom has a small breed dog and Olivia was too much for him. She brought her to PRBJ in hopes of finding Olivia her furever home! Below is what her previous foster mom wrote about her:

Olivia came to us as a foster pup with her brother, Bennett. They were both 4 months old. We LOVED those two babies and were so happy when both were adopted at 5 months old by a loving family of a vet technician. Bennett went to one sister of the family and Olivia went to the mother of the same family. Once adopted, the two were in different households but we were overjoyed they could still visit each other once in a while!

I ask all my adopters if anything doesn't work out, to please bring our babies back. Circumstances change. We understand that! We just want to take care of our angels and give them a home if this occurs. The adopter of Olivia had changes in her work schedule and could no longer provide the play time and exercise Olivia needs. This dog is high energy and craves love. Her new home must provide both if adoption is to be successful.

Olivia LOVES (I mean LOVES ) to play! Catch, tug of war, wrestling... she loves it ALL! This can be misunderstood by the unknowing dog owner. She is HIGH energy and SO much FUN! Olivia's need for attention is great. Remember, she had SO much time with her brother to play and she was fostered by a family with many children. The fun is still in her! So, Olivia's new owner needs to have time to devote to this precious girl.

This sweet girl loves dog parks, play time with her owner, and toys, toys, toys! If you want love in your life and a REAL best friend... she is IT! She will NOT leave your side.

Olivia does best with one or two doggie friends. Too many can scare her and she will cower in the corner, putting her tail between her legs.

Olivia is quite sensitive and will get her feelings hurt with harsh tones. A great deal of positive verbal reinforcement is extremely effective in training this girl. Its all about LOVE for her! Olivia's favorite thing is when we offer her physical contact, allowing her to sit in our laps (yes it looked funny because of her size!) and rubbing our face against hers. Olivia has no idea of her size. She just wants to be loved like a puppy!

As fosters, we took Olivia to work with us on a twelve acre farm. She rarely left my side and loved to run along next to my golf cart. If you want devotion, Olivia is your girl!

Olivia is still hungry and growing. She responds well to eating a large bowl of kibble both morning and night with treats in between for good behavior. A chew toy like a marrow bone is a good idea to keep her tummy from growling and her high energy satiated. I highly recommend a  bone if Olivia is to be caged.

Because Olivia worked on the farm with us or played at dog parks, she wasn't trained to walk on a leash. However, this dog is trainable... use treats and lotsa "Atta girl"s or "Sweet baby"s and she does well!

We have fostered many pups and kittens. Olivia was one of our favorites! We pray for a loving home for this VERY special girl. The new owner should be okay with providing a good deal of attention, play, and exercise, as well as have the opportunity for dog parks or running areas.
Olivia loves blankets! So I always lay one down for my baby girl:)

Kiss our baby often and tell her we are still watching over her!
