Description:

Dixie is a sweet dog who likes to have attention, give love, cuddle on the couch with you, and play with other dogs.  She is frightened to be left in the yard for more than a few minutes, as she was chained in a back yard and developed a serious urinary infection. She was treated at the vet, fixed, and is up to date on all vaccinations. Dixie would be good for a quiet home with someone who likes to take walks and car rides!

MAY 2018 Foster Update:  Dixie is the most affectionate dog I have ever met. She loves to give kisses and cuddles. She loves to be the center of attention and loves to lick. When you think you are clean from her loves she will come back again to make sure she did not miss any spots on you. She loves to follow you around while you do your daily chores. She will be your shadow on any adventures that you take her on.

Dixie does not like loud noises. We were outside and someone lit a firecracker a few doors down and she ran inside to hide.

Dixie LOVES kids.  I think she was waiting for the baby to start petting her. The 1 year old toddler in the house she loved as well. Also the 13 year old of the house. Dixie would just sit in the room with her. She does not like our outside cat though. She sits and barks at the cat.

Dixie likes to get in the trash can in the kitchen. I'm not sure whether from being bored, being hungry or just liking the smell. Her food dish was in the kitchen as well and had food in it during her trash digging. Also she likes to put her paws on the counter and sniffing what you are cooking.

12.26.17 Dog 4 a Day:   I had the pleasure of taking this sweet girl to the Sanford Riverwalk. When we first met, Dixie was very energetic but quickly settled down during the car ride and the walk. She was easy to walk on the leash despite her being as curious as a puppy at her surroundings. Other people who saw Dixie complimented her gorgeous eyes and coat color, and I can’t agree more! I was also impressed as she knows the commands “paw” and “sit.” Overall, she was an angel and I think she would be a great fit for anyone who would like a calmer but very loving dog to join their family!

Dixie participated in the 5K Turkey Trot as well.... check out her pictures!
