Description:
Top Hat was found by some wonderful people just outside their house in their shrubs meowing for her momma. Of course they couldn't just leave her there and act like they didn't hear her so they called us and we said bring her on down! She is a wonderful little girl that is so tender and didn't complain one bit that she got dewormed, and her first set of shots all in the same day!

01.20.09 Foster Update:
I think Toppy (Top Hat) is adjusting well to getting into a home. Within an hour of being home, she was perched up on my shoulder. She seems to love computer keyboards! At first, everytime I started working on a computer - there is she is wanting to take a stroll on my keyboard. That behavior has been curbed a bit now. She is very cute - and a "purrer".

02.15.09 Foster Update:
Toppy continues to be a joy! She is definitely coming into her own. She LOVES her toys. This morning before getting out of bed, for about 30 minutes, I heard her playing with "something". Well, it was the little plastic cover that goes over the bolt that secures the toilet to the floor. Yep. She had that and was batting it around the bathtub (until I'd had enough of that). I got her a soft toy instead. : )

She is continues to good with both cats and dogs. She would probably be great with another kitten.

Toppy likes to sleep with you. Sometimes, she will burrow under the covers and go to your feet.

She is still a real purrer!

03.17.09 Foster Update:
Toppy had been away from us for little while as she got spayed, etc. I could not be away from her so we brought her home again (even though I'm fostering four other kittens too!) Toppy is still very, very sweet. She plays very independently with, well, anything...the corner of a bath mat, cat toys, a string, etc. She doesn't care. She just loves to play!

She is still very much the purrer - probably one of the strongest purring cats I've ever had. She lets me lay her on her back, hold her, and cuddle her - but then she's off to play again!

03.26.09 Foster Update:
Toppy is such a great kitten! She loves to sleep right beside you...sometimes under the covers.

Personally, I think she is a professional athlete in training...perhaps soccer or lacrosse player. She loves to bat things around...cat toys, walnuts, you name it... She also could be a left tackle in the CFL (Cat Football League). She loves to pounce on the other cats, which are older, and have retired from their football careers so don't appreciate it much.

If you want at docile kitten, Toppy would not be the one. If you want an energetic, fun, loveable kitten, she could be the one for you.

04.06.09 Foster Update: Toppy is so smart! I cannot leave my chapstick beside the bed at night or Toppy will bat it off the night stand. So, since I'm so smart...I placed under a bean bag-type pillow on top of the night stand. She found it!!

During the night, Toppy has taken to placing her cold, wet, whiskery nose right up against (sometimes it feels like inside) my nose. I think she is saying, "Hey foster mommy, I love you!"

04.20.09 Foster Update:  This little girl is so sweet, yet has her wild side (the side that LOVES to pounce and play).  As I was sitting here at the computer, she was begging me for some attention.  She got up on my lap and layed there...and talked.  Yes, she talks to me.  (She was telling me how much she wants to find her forever home and that she promises to be good when that opportunity comes around.)

How do you introduce a cat and dog?
According to the ASPCA, the majority of homes with, dogs and cats share living quarters quite amiably. In fact, it is often more difficult to introduce a second male cat or a second female dog to a household than it is a member of the other species. There are exceptions, of course. Socializing stray cats who border on feral presents a serious health risk to resident dogs, even friendly ones. Dogs with strong prey drive (the desire to catch, shake and kill) c
