Fay is a lovely black cat with exotic green eyes. She is a "Hemingway" cat, meaning she has extra toes. This lucky girl was caught in a storm but stumbled onto the right family. As they tell it, "She is a slender, very exotic looking girl who looks like she is wearing baseball mits on her front paws since they are so big in comparison to her thin-lady legs! She is wonderfully sweet and loves everyone, including other cats, dogs and kids! She was rescued from the Marriot parking lot in Lake Mary during hurricane Fay (hence her name) and she was all skin and bones. After about a week of feeding her, she began to plump up...a little too much, actually! It turned out Fay was pregnant! She had a gorgeous litter of 5 kittens--2 girls and 3 boys--all named after storms of the 2008 season." All of her kittens have long since been adopted, but this darling girl is still looking for a forever home. Could it be with you?
Foster Update 3.6.11: Fay is such a joy to foster! I have seen her personality blossom. She is shy at first and needs some time to adjust, as expected, but she really wants to be next to people getting attention. She does not mind being held. I had her at the adoption center in Oviedo and she stayed on my lap in the midst of people coming in to pet her and dogs barking around her. She gets along fine with my two dogs at home. If they are really bothering her, she will hold her own.
Foster Update 10.30.11: Fay is wonderful, she would make a great companion. I'm not sure why she hasn't been adopted yet. She has a cute meow, big paws, and big beautiful eyes. She would do best in a quiet household but is great with both cats and dogs. She makes such a great companion because she is affectionate and friendly, but not needy! She understands humans need their own time and have busy lives, but when you are ready to give her some love and attention she is all for it! She has a great relationship with my cat, they chase each other around when they are playing. She prefers him over the dog but I totally understand since the dog likes to chase her, but she will rub against him when he calms down.
Foster Update 12.13.11: Fay is still doing really well. She sleeps with me the whole night and is best friends with my cat. She would make a great companion for someone, whether they have a cat or not. Like all cats at PRBJ, she is spayed, up to date on her shots, microchipped, and fully litter box trained.
Foster Update 1.23.12: All Fay wants is some love and pets, and good food of course! She sleeps with me throughout the night and shares the bed with my other cat. They groom each other and wrestle, it's adorable. She'll occasionally talk to you if she's wondering where you're going in the house. She doesn't mind being held and picked up. When she's really happy she'll start to "knead" you, by putting both her paws on you and purring. She's such a sweetheart!
FAY Update 1.30.12: My name is Fay and I'm looking for my forever home! My favorite place will be on your bed, I love to lay next to you and take cat naps. I wouldn't mind sharing my home with other pets, my best friend besides my foster mom is a cat. Sometimes we wrestle throughout the house. I would be okay by myself too, as long as my new family gives me love and attention. I'm an adult cat so I already have good house manners. I would love to meet you!
Who says black cats are bad luck?? In Japan and Britain, when a black cat crosses your path, it's good luck, not bad! What if a black kitten is on your porch? According to Scottish lore, that will bring future happiness. When the goddess Bast ruled ancient Egypt, Egyptians welcomed black cats in their homes. They believed that Bast's spirit would intertwine with the cat, and prosperity would surely follow. Charles I of England loved his black cat so much that when it passed away he is said to have proclaimed "Alas my luck is gone!" The next day he was charged with high treason, arrested, and ultimately executed. So, black cats are actually good luck! Adopt a black kitty, they bring happiness and joy!
