Description: Sally is a lovely, affectionate Tortoiseshell. She started out her life on her own but now is soooooo happy to be living an indoor life. She was rescued along with her two kittens by a very sweet, kind woman. I'll let Melissa share her story: "This is Sally. She is the mother of Suzy and Spook. She is by far the most affectionate momma cat I've ever fostered. All she wants to do is love on you, and she doesn't mind being held at all. She is spayed, chipped, got rabies vaccine, and tested negative for fiv/leukemia. Once she tested negative, I began fostering her in my home near my two cats. She has been a little skiddish, but when you call her out from under the bed, she comes and then begins her love session with you! I think she is just not used to having SOO much room to roam around in, since before I was fostering her in a rather small dog crate in my garage. Also, my two cats haven't been very welcoming either; they're not aggressive at all, but certainly they don't love her either. But I can tell she is amazing with other cats. She doesn't seem to care one bit that they're around; even when they give her a little hiss, she just looks at them like, "Whatever!". Also, she was a stray before I got her, so I think some of her skiddish-ness comes from that; I don't think she's used to so many people and sounds in a house. I am 100% confident that once she gets used to everyone in household, she will get over that. I'm not sure what age the vet estimated her to be, but she seems pretty young (way too young to be a momma!). I really can't sing enough praises for this cat. She is more loving than both of my cats combined! People always want a kitten, but you just can't tell what they're true personality will be like when they grow up. With a cat, you know how they'll be! She would make such an awesome therapy pet too. She will sit next to you and love on you until you finally have had enough and walk away (you walk away, not her!). Also, she gives you little kisses - she very gently jumps up to your face and smooches you right on the lips! She really is the coolest! If I could have more cats, I would keep her in a heartbeat. Who ever ends up adopting her is truly a lucky person. Oh yeah, and she was an awesome mom, not that she'll ever have to do that again though! "
Now, I have to tell you, the first time someone told me a we had gotten in a Tortoiseshell, well, I kinda was wondering what happened to the tortoise! I'm sure you know exactly what a Tortoiseshell is, but juuuuust in case you don't, let me show off for a moment. A Tortoiseshell is not a breed but is, instead, a referance to the coloring of their coat. According to the book "For The Love Of Cats"Tortoiseshell cats have a coat with a combination of any one solid color and red or cream. These colors may be completely mixed as in brindled tortoiseshell or separate as in patched tortoiseshell. The solid color may be black, brown, blue, chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, fawn, or golden."
"Torties" are almost always female. See how smart we are now!?!
