After operating several years with only a network of foster homes, we have finally rented and settled into a permanet building in Sanford.  This has been a huge leap of faith on our part as our expenses are significantly higher but we believe that the community of Central Florida will help us meet those expenses through donations.

Donations, both big and small, are welcome.  In addition to our living expenses, we have those associated with the care of the pets.  All of our pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and treated for medical needs.  Although we have very supportive vets, they cannot do this for free.  And then there are the unexpected medical bills and heartworm treatment required for so many of our abandoned pets....

Please help us.  You can make a general one-time donation or choose to sponsor a specific pet.  Or maybe you might consider committing to covering the cost of spaying/neutering one pet a month!  If we know we can count on a force of people standing with us, what a difference we can make!   Donations may be made through our Paypal account or by mailing a check.  Please, we do not want to turn away these animals.  Help us help them!

Your donations are tax deductable.  All monies go directly to the care of the animals.  Consider this: many large corporations have programs matching donations to nonprofit organizations.  Ask your human resouce department.  Make donations payable to:

Electronic donations may also be made safely and securely via the Paypal link in the left margin of our homepage.  Please include your mailing address on your Paypal donation so that we can be sure to mail you a tax receipt.

From Great Sorrow Comes Great Blessings

Sue EndowmentSometimes in life you come along side someone and you enjoy their company, their interests, their sparkle, and you feel fortunate.  That's how we felt about Sue Thomas Zalewski.  Sue loved gardening, craft making and country music, but her passion was for rescued pets.  She was always finding ways to help stray animals, often volunteering at rescue shelters as well as providing food and comfort to them wherever she lived.   Is it any suprise that, after moving to Oviedo, she became a long-time avid supporter and volunteer with Pet Rescue By Judy?  Despite several medical conditions that left her disabled and constantly exhausted, Sue gave her all to help our animals.  She was always the one we could rely on to foster abandoned cats and dogs, drive them to vet appointments, to nurse and nurture them back to health, and then to lovingly say goodbye to them as they left for their forever home.  Even when she was attacked by one of the cats  and nearly lost her thumb due to the subsequent infection, she did not stop or slow down.  Yes, she shared our vision and our passion, and we loved her.  On February 15th, 2007, we were rocked to our core when Sue was shot and killed in her own home.  She left behind her mother, siblings, four dogs, three cats and a huge hole in our hearts.  We held onto her memory and hoped that would be enough.  In September we found out it would not have to be.  Her brother contacted us on behalf of her family and  told us with pride and love that, "in an effort to honor Sue's memory and her life long love of animals, her family and friends have created the Sue Thomas Zalewski Endowment Fund to support Pet Rescue By Judy."  They have already raised funds and made an initial contribution, and their hope is that this will help us continue the work that Sue so loved and of which she was such a huge part.  They hope to continue to raise additional funds.  What happened to Sue was a terrible and devastating tragedy and a tremendous loss for our organization, but her family wants us to remember the good things in her life, and celebrate her love of animals by helping us raise funds to continue our work with stray and abandoned pets.  All of us, along with her family, friends and pets, will forever miss Sue, her happy nature, her infectious smile.  She will always be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers, for she was taken much too early.  If you would like to make a donation in honor of Sue, please send your check, payable to Pet Rescue By Judy, 2620 Iroquois Avenue,  Sanford,  FL  32773.

Shadow's Hope

Shadow's Back 1st dayMany followed the progress of our black German Shepherd, Shadow, in the spring of 2007.  We rescued her from a home in which she had been abused, starved and eventually abandoned.  When Judy first got her, Shadow was a shell - emaciated, bones pressing against hairless skin, just a glimmer of hope in her eyes.  Isn't it amazing what love and kindness can do?  When I saw her a month later, she was filling out, her coat was coming in, her hair glistened, there was joy in her eyes Shadow Healthyand a prance in her step!  No one could believe it was the same dog.  She appeared to suffer a set back when diagnosed with arthritis, but responded well to glucosimen.  But in late June she began to concern Judy.  X-rays revealed a huge mass pressing against her abdomen.  Judy made the difficult decision to put Shadow's suffering to an end.  Never an easy decision, sometimes the right decision.  We take solice in knowing that Shadow was truly happy those last two months, possibly experiencing love for the first time in her life.  We are appreciative of all of our friends who donated to help offset her medical bills.  We believe it was money well spent and thank you for giving Shadow days of joy.  In memory of her we are establishing The Shadow's Hope Fund.  Donations made to it will be applied to extrordinary medical expenses incurred in the rescue of our pets.  We do not want our decisions to be driven by cost.  If you wish to donate to this cause, please indicate "Shadow's Hope" on either your check or paypal.  And as always, your support of rescued animals is always appreciated.
