Benji has been losing his hearing over the last few months.   He is still a bit puzzled by this and we try to use hand signals.     This has also made him a bit nervous, especially about making sure he knows where his people are.    He is still a happy guy who loves to eat and loves to nap on the couch or watch tv with you.

May 1st Foster Update:    We continue to be surprised that Benji has not found his furever home.   Benji is a happy, busy guy with a good appetite.   He also loves being a couch potato, especially when hoomans are involved!    He does have a checkup of his mouth in May with our vet, which PRBJ will pay for should he be adopted prior to that.    He does still have a couple of small openings in the roof of his mouth, but is not in pain and eats well and can bark well also, haha!       He does not at all act like he is a senior.   He is agile and can run quite fast when he wants to.     He love, love, loves people.

1.21.22  Benji had another fistula surgery in early January but you would never know it!   He is a happy boy with a good appetite, a love for sunning outside and cuddling on the couch.   He likes rides in the car (the moving part and preferably not to the vet please!) and he is full of personality.

11.11.21   Benji is free from his e-collar and his mouth is almost entirely healed!     He is ready to find his very own home!     His vet does want to do one more recheck of his mouth in four weeks.

10.26.21    Since having his upper teeth removed, Benji has had additional surgery to repair two holes (fistulas) in the roof of his mouth repaired.     I think he thinks the e-collar is a permanent part of him by now.      Other than this, he is a happy, go-lucky boy who wants to be sure where his favorite person is!     He is very well behaved and let us know when he needs to go out.

9.17.21 Foster Update.    Benji is a sweet and happy guy with a waggy tail!    He did have to have all of his top teeth removed so is on a soft food diet.    He has a very big bark for his size!       He loves comfy doggy beds and loves to join his people on the couch.     We have steps up to our couch which he tends to ignore, but due to his breed, he should be lifted on and off if he does not want to use the stairs.   With his long back and short legs, jumping is not encouraged.    He is very obedient and very observant, as well as housetrained.   He lives with multiple other dogs at his foster home, sizes 5# to 65#.

Sweet boy Benji was returned to us because his owners' work schedule changed and they were not able to let him out enough. His previous owner described him as extremely sweet natured and said that he loves to sleep in bed with his person.
Benji likes short rides in the car, walks on his leash he has a great prance , and sunning outside. He is a wonderful doorbell and will let you know if someone is at your door. Because of his breed and age, he can not handle stairs, so he must be in a stair free household. Benji would do best with a fenced in backyard because he likes to go out to out frequently.Because of his age, a home with no children is best.
