Description:

Foster Update- April 30:  Shannon is a sweetheart who loves to snuggle and play.  She will play fetch with a tennis ball making sure you've got it when she brings it back.  She loves to jump high up in the air to catch her ball or run as fast as she can to get it.  She loves her people and grins from ear to ear when you praise her.  She's a very smart dog and you can almost see her thinking hard when she's trying to solve a problem- usually it's how to get the bone or ball out from under the couch.  She loves her canine play buddies too and will play till everyone's laying on the floor panting!  She is a wonderful dog that is loving and fun and needs a forever family to make her their own.

Foster Update- April 2:  Shannon is such a fun dog!  The best way to describe her personality is Happy.  She is almost always playing either with her toys or with our other dog.  She can entertain herself for hours with a squeaky toy, just throwing it up in the air and playing catch.  She will take a tennis ball in her paws and pop it out with her nose and play people fetch, or jump up and pounce on it until it inevitably rolls under the furniture.  She will then contort herself to try to get it out.  She loves her chew toys and prefers to have several so she can store them around the house for later use.  She is very energetic but not spastic and is very friendly to everyone including other dogs, cats, and kids of all ages.  She still pulls some on the leash but is much better about it and will listen when corrected.  She is a beautiful and fast runner and would do well with a big fenced backyard or someone who would like a running partner.  Her fur is coming in nicely and she is getting a silky, shiny coat.  She loves to snuggle and is very affectionate but doesn’t demand attention.  She is just a great dog and would make such a great friend to someone who will take her home and love her.

Foster Update - December- What a sweet girl!  Shannon is housebroken and knows her basic commands (sit, stay, come).   She does not know her name as Shannon, as the kids call her Oobie. When we are not home she sleeps in her crate, but we are starting to allow her out when we are gone on shorter outings.   She is housebroken and a fabulous dog.  Shannon is energetic, sweet and a bed hog.  She loves being outside and will stay close without a leash (when there are no distractions) if I am working in the yard or the garage.  She does walk on a leash but as she is getting stronger is pulling quite a bit.  She now weighs 44 pounds and is medium sized.

She is great with kids and loves to chew on bones and carry around a stuffed toy, but leaves our things alone.  She barks when someone is in the yard or at the door but doesn't jump or get over excited when when they come in.  I think she has the potential to be very trainable and she is definitely motivated by food.  She loves to play but is not an "in your face" dog.  We have two other dogs who she adores and gets along with great.  When we have taken her to the dog park (which she loves) she has no problems and just jumps in and starts playing.

She loves the car and goes for rides several times a week.  She is not very fond of baths but tolerates them.  She hasn't been around cats or small children.  Shannon is great at taking medicine and will eat anything you drop in her bowl.  She has been battling demodex most of the summer (non-contagious).  It gets better for a while and then comes back.  We have finally got it figured out, I think being on a high quality food is the key.
