Louie is a sweet Westie Mix that was surrendered by his owner when he became too busy with school and work.  Originally, Louie was with a family that did not take care of him, and so when his previous owner convinced them to turn over the dog, it took him time to gain the dog's trust.

Louie is friendly and loves attention, now that he knows humans are good! He has not been around many dogs, but has acted friendly in his few interactions. He is a cuddle bug that loves to get doggie massages scratches behind his ears. He is crate and house trained. Louie is not a fan of getting groomed or having nails done since he did not get that done until recently. We would recommend getting him established with a local groomer to get him comfy with being handled as Westie's do need regular grooming:) Louie has recently been around kids and has done great so a family with older children/teens would be good for him.

Louie would love to find an active family that would take him out on walks and new adventures.

Westies routine grooming:

  • If the dog is hand stripped, keeping the dog in proper coat rotation is extremely time consuming as well as expensive.
  • If you have chosen to keep your Westie in a clipped trim, plan on spending 20 –30 minutes per week for brushing to keep the undercoat at bay and to remove dead coat and to keep the leg furnishings from getting tangled.
