Description:

10/11/2019:  Bella's foster mom wrote an update for Bella since she has been fostering her.

Bella is a sweetheart. She's pretty chilled out and loves napping on the couch however given the chance she LOVES going for long runs / walks (I'm pretty sure she's lost weight while here dur to all our exercise). While out on the farm she has become very curious about the wildlife here and her natural wild instincts have "awoken". I've had to put a bell on her collar to warn animals that she's around. I've also had to stop letting her roam free because she goes after anything that even looks like its alive (she's attacked a couple of gopher tortoises but thankfully I was nearby to stop her and their shells did a good job protecting them). She's been a wonderful companion and guard dog. She likes to be in whatever room I'm in and cuddle up on the couch. She's also a fan of fetch and enjoys playing with her toys. As mentioned by you guys she doesn't like other dogs but she also goes after bike riders and cars. Basically when I walk her it can only be on the empty dirt roads around my property. If a car drives by I have to hold onto her tight or she'll chase it. We've had to stop walking on the main paved footpath because she was lunging at and scaring the biker-riders. Even though she has some bad habits she's still a very good girl - even if she's being naughty (eg hassling tortoises) if you call her firmly she'll stop, listen to you and come to you. She's loyal and obedient. She definitely needs someone who is willing to take her on brisk walks / runs and that can teach her how to be well behaved on the leash. She also needs a home where she can go on the furniture because the sofa is definitely her happy place.

Beautiful Bella was owner surrendered to Pet Rescue by Judy. Her family felt bad that they just did not have the time to give this sweet girl.
Bella is good with children and grew up with a cat.  We were told that  she has nipped at other dogs, but never at a person. With this in mind, we'd suggest  Bella as the only pet in the home. Many Catahoulas prefer to be the dominant/only dog in the home. Houlas are very sensitive by nature and are observant of their owner's mood and directions. They are generally good with kids and are best for an active family with an alpha owner who models pack order.
Bella is housebroken, likes baths, is very playful, and enjoys going on walks. Her previous owner has sent us some wonderful photos for you to view to see how wonderful she is.
If you are interested in Bella please put an application in to come meet this beautiful girl.
