Seniors For Seniors Program
Seniors have a lot to offer, whether they are two-legged or four. Put them together and you have - no, not six legs, silly - you have loving companions. There are great advantages to adopting a senior pet, but those advantages are magnified for senior adults who really don't need the excessive energy and unintended, but often real, destructive behavior of a youngster.
Believing that the companionship of an animal adds greatly to quality of life , we have developed our Seniors For Seniors Program through which senior adults can adopt our senior dogs and cats for half their stated fee. Simply fill out an Adoption Application for one of the pets that is specified as a senior and indicate in the final comments section that you are eligable for our Seniors For Seniors Program.
It is never too late in life to adopt a pet....
Felix came to us as a courtsey listing after his owner passsed away at 97 years of age. He had been adopted by a then-92 year old woman who loved him as he was her main companion. According to a friend, "she would worry about him being alone when she went out with me for dinner. He was a blessing to her loneliness. She passed away in November at 97. She wrote this poem about him:"
MY DEAR LITTLE KITTEN
My new little orange and white kitten
Called Felix The Cat
Has already smitten me,
For I have grown to love
Him at first sight you see.
I am sure he will take over the house,
My life will never be the same,
That is the name of the game you see,
When you adopt a sweet, little kitten
Like Felix.
He will need lots of love and attention,
That is what mamas are for.
And mama will make sure
That he gets it at all times.
I hope that we will spend
Many happy years together.
I look forward to having him in my home.
