Pierre
Today Nov. 3,2009 was a very sad day as our little light shined for the last time.He was one of the most loving and sweet dogs i have ever owned. He had lived a very hard life and when i saw his picture on Pet rescue by Judy website i knew i had to have him.I had lost my own pet a few months before and when i saw this sweet picture i knew i had to have him.We filled out the application and a few days later received the call that we could come and meet him.I walked into the petco and when i saw him i fell in love all over again. He had a few health issues and that made me love him even more.On Dec.24,2008 he broke his right paw and when we took him to the vet and they xrayed it they told me he had cancer in the leg and either i needed to amputate the leg or put him to sleep.I did neither.I did not give him very much of the pain medicine and he eventually got better. He never used the leg again but it did not slow him down. Finally this morning he went out and pottied and then laid down and basically went to sleep and is now in a much better place. I can never thank Judy enough for allowing me to be loved by such a sweet dog.He will be greatly missed by everyone that met him. He is my little star looking down at me and smiling.Goodbye my " P" and i will always love you!!Love, your own mom
Landon the Velcro Cat
How sad I was today when I found out that Landon had died! He came to us in February of 2008, having wandered up to the door of one of our volunteers. At first he was very cautious and skittish, but in no time he became the velcro cat. No amount of attention was too much for Landon. When you went into the cat room, he was johnny on the spot, butting up against your hand, twining in between your legs.... But sadly, he was never adopted. I think it was because he was black. Black cats and dogs just don't stand out from the crowd, even the most wonderful ones like Landon. He was the king of the cat room, grooming, sniffing and swatting the other cats. All that changed the day Ebony arrived. She had a thing for him, and he felt the same way. She was the only cat he wouldn't swat away, and before we knew it, they were spending all their time together, cuddled up and purring. Adorable. And still they did not get adopted. It is now October of 2009 and Landon has just passed away. We will miss him, but Ebony will be devasted....
Lady, Our Golden Joy
I am sad to say that Lady passed away. She the last of the orginal three babies we got after we lost Buddy. Lady was a beautiful baby with a heart of gold. She loved life and loved everyone around her. Lady was 9 years old when we adopted her and we gave her four years of a wonderful life and she gave us four years of continues love. She is now at rainbow bridge with our other babies. Lady, we love you and you will be missed! Love you, Joe and Holly
Kai the Best Dog A Family Could Have
Thank you so much for returning my call about our dog Kai. We adopted him 12/2004 when you were set up at Petsmart in Altamonte Springs. He was a surprise for our family, when we adopted him..we were advised that Kai and his brothers and sisters were found in a trash compactor. A couple of his siblings were killed before you rescued them.
On August 4, 2009, about 10p..my husband went outside to walk Kai before going to bed for the night, when Kai spotted a cat and ran after it. Shortly after our neighbors knocked on our door to say they witnessed a large truck speeding on the wrong side of the street in our neighborhood. The driver of the truck struck and killed our dog. The driver did not stop, he kept going. The driver will never know the hurt that he has caused to our family.
Kai has brought our family 5 years of unbelievable happiness. He was a member of our family, and by far the best dog and friend that any family could have had. Kai was a true blessing to our children, friends and entire family. And we are truly thankful that God has blessed us with five wonderful years with Kai. Our daughters:
Sonja age 20
Marissa age 18
Lauren age 9 (featured in the picture be with Kai taken hours before he was killed)
Sincerely,
Consuela Nelson
Precious the Dancing Dachshund
My daughter adopted Precious, a miniature daschund, when her step-dad and I had only been married 2 years. She quickly became the family's dog. She was a bit of a flibberty-gibbet, not watching where she was running and bouncing off various surfaces, standing up, shaking her head and would be off again. She would steal onions from the trash and pickles if she could get to them because she loved them...but they didn't love her. She was at the vet, several times, for digestive problems caused by stealing people food. When my daughter made the trip to be with me after my bilateral knee replacement in 2004, Precious came with her and acted as if she knew that "Granny" wasn't feeling well. For the first time, she slept with someone else other than my daughter. She developed arthritis at age 12 and my daughter's significant other built a carpeted ramp so that she could get into the bed by herself. She had her good days and her bad, but was still her feisty self. Just this past year, she developed heart problems and the vet told my daughter she was not doing her any favors by keeping our sweet girl alive. At age 17, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge and left a large family of humans mourning her passing. Precious had a favorite song...she would prance around when she heard the strains of "Dixie" being played by the HS band that practiced nearby. My daughter recently adopted an American Staffordshire Terrier. In honor of Precious, her name is Dixie.
